Christmas Day without the cooking? That sounds like a gift already 🎄🥂
This year, let someone else take care of Christmas lunch.
At Lucarelli Mailbox, we’ll be serving our Christmas Day Menu across two sittings — 12pm and 2.30pm — giving you the chance to sit back, enjoy the day properly, and spend more time with the people around the table.
The menu starts with a welcome glass of prosecco and Lucarelli bread and olives for the table, followed by a choice of festive starters, mains and desserts. Highlights include lobster ravioli, roast turkey with all the trimmings, beef fillet with truffle and mushroom sauce, sea bass with prawns, clams and scallops, and traditional panettone with warm Vin Santo custard. Okay… now we’ve made ourselves hungry 🍝🍷
Yes, yes… we’ve spent the week talking about pasta.
The wheat.

Pasta shape really DOES matter 👀🍝

Spaghetti. Rigatoni. Tagliatelle. Penne. Ravioli.

They’re not different shapes just because Italians like making life difficult. 😂🇮🇹

It starts before the sauce 🍝
Last week we talked pizza… this week, we’re moving on to another Italian obsession.
Pasta. 🇮🇹
And good pasta starts long before it reaches the pan.
The quality of the wheat matters. Traditional dried Italian pasta is made using durum wheat semolina — chosen because it gives pasta that firm texture and bite we all love.
Good ingredients make a difference. The pasta needs to hold its shape, cook properly and still have that all-important al dente bite when it reaches your table.
Because when something is as simple as pasta, there really is nowhere for poor ingredients to hide.
And yes… we take our pasta seriously.

Pizza for the table 🍕
Yes, yes… we’re still talking about pizza.
But honestly, who doesn’t love pizza?
Here’s something to try next time you’re at Lucarelli: order one for the table.
Have your main course… but put a pizza in the middle for everyone to share.
A slice while you’re waiting.
Another one because someone ordered your favourite topping.
Then somehow the whole thing disappears.
Best of both worlds — your own main course and a pizza everyone gets stuck into.

The crust debate 🍕
Eat the crust… or leave it on the plate? 👀
We’re firmly on team eat the crust.
A good pizza crust should be light, airy and properly risen — not just something you work your way around to get to the toppings.
That lift comes from the dough being given time to ferment and rise, creating those little air pockets that puff up beautifully in the oven and give you that soft, chewy centre with a lightly crisp outside.
So when the crust looks this good from the side… leaving it feels almost criminal 😌🍕
