MEET BUCKLEY: THERAPY DOG IN TRAINING🩵🐶

We are so excited to announce Joy’s newest member of the team, 10 week old saluki, Buckley. he will reside with our Joy Makers Quirky Academy CIC Workshops, who are very busy preparing him for his future responsibilities and training.

follow along to see updates on Buckley, come into Joy to give him cuddles, and one day soon, he will be providing life-changing mental health support to young people who come through our doors every day ⭐️🫶

Birkenhead means so much to us at Make It Happen. It is a place full of community spirit, kindness, resilience, and people who genuinely care about making Birkenhead the best it can be.

We know that the biggest changes happen when we work together. Whether you are a resident, volunteer, local business, community group, or partner organisation, everyone has something valuable to contribute.

By collaborating, sharing ideas, supporting one another, and building strong connections, we can create a healthier, happier, and more vibrant Birkenhead.

Having the opportunity to share a very strong compelling message nationally alongside Open Door Charity Joy Birkenhead Make. Future Yard Start-Yard in the daily mirror today was boss.

We will on any and every given chance shine a light on the inspirational hard working organisations do across Birkenhead, as we go on this journey to make Birkenhead a place to be proud of and the Town of Culture too.

what is Joy? get to know us👉

we’ve had lots of new lovely pals following our journey recently, so it’s only right to give you all a bit of a round up as to what Joy is and what our purpose is.

we are a building based in Birkenhead, Wirral, that challenges traditional and clinical approaches to mental health by creating a vibrant third space, where creativity, culture, connection and community become part of everyday wellbeing🫰

Joy is a place where people don’t just come for support, they come to belong💚

people need places where they feel welcome. where they can connect, create, grow. we exist to create those places🏡

we have a mixture of mental health and wellbeing organisations that make up the Joy family, as well as regular practitioners that run events for the communities that need connection now more than ever❤️‍🩹 from yoga sessions to first aid training in The Gallery, social meetings in our Cafe to company away days in Cosmo (our events room) you name a space you need: we’ve got it.

we bring together mental health support under the same joyful roof as creative opportunities, physical wellness activities, events, weddings, parties, conferences and communities activities.

we have our own cafe, and the money you spend with us goes directly back into our founding charities pot, Open Door Charity so you know that when you support Joy, you support people who need free, fast and effective mental health support 💙

by combining mental health support, creativity, culture, and community in one accessible destination, we are a leading model of responsible wellbeing care in a non clinical setting, focusing on connection, belonging, and opportunity.

The doors to Joy are open, and we’re so glad you’re here with us⭐️
