I've been a book lover for as long as I can remember, but lately I've realised something strange.
I spend so much of my working life reading reports, assessments, and lengthy documents that I've found it harder and harder to settle into a book just for enjoyment.
This image represents me on Sunday afternoon, sitting at the bench up at the dog field. While the dogs ran, wrestled, and rolled around in the grass, I picked up this month's Book Club read, This Book Made Me Think of You.
It's not a life-changing masterpiece. It's a fairly predictable romance. But sitting in the breeze and sunshine, I found myself completely immersed in the story, enjoying a light read for the first time in ages.
It reminded me that reading doesn't always have to challenge us. Sometimes it just needs to give us a little escape.
That's exactly what we love about our Book Club and why we're excited to launch our new Recommended Reads evenings on Wednesdays throughout June. A chance to chat books, swap recommendations, and celebrate the simple pleasure of reading.
What book has helped you switch off recently? π
There is still space left for this Wednesday's first ever Recommended Reads Club. All you need to do is bring yourself, a favourite book or two and an empty tummy for an evening with like-minded book lovers, a one-pot veggie supper and some cosy chat-
