We've been named one of Britain's best pubs on the beach by the Daily Mail! 🍻

They gave a special mention to our sea views, cosy fireplaces and, of course, the sea tractor ride back to the mainland when the tide comes in 🌊

We're rather lucky to call Burgh Island home.

Someone recently shared this wonderful photograph of Jimbo in the comments on one of our posts, where we asked about your favourite memories of Burgh Island.

Along with the photo, they wrote: "For me the Pilchard will always be part of Jimbo and my life... He was a friend never to be forgotten."

It got us thinking just how many people have their own memories of Jimbo.

For years, he was a familiar face on Burgh Island, whether you knew him from driving the sea tractor, saw him in The Pilchard Inn, or simply stopped for a chat. Even now, more than 30 years on, his name still comes up whenever people share stories about the island.

The pirates have left Burgh Island for another year... 🏴‍☠️🌊

This year's Tom Crocker Day brought plenty of pirate mischief, treasure hunting, sandcastle building, live music and a very busy BBQ!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a brilliant afternoon.

A special mention to Mount Folly Farm for keeping us supplied with the most delicious local ice cream, and to Wave Project, who we were proud to support while raising funds for their fantastic work with young people across South Devon.

Another Tom Crocker Day for the books. Until next year! 🍻

Tom Crocker Day is tomorrow! 🏴‍☠️

This year, our pirate treasure hunt will be supporting Wave Project, a fantastic charity helping young people build confidence and improve their wellbeing through Surf Therapy here in South Devon.

To take part, simply make a tap-to-donate donation before setting off in search of Tom Crocker's hidden treasure. Find it, and you'll be taking home a fantastic prize... 💰

With live music from The Chantry Buoys, a BBQ from 12pm, local ice cream from Mount Folly Farm, children's activities and plenty of pirate mischief along the way, it's set to be another brilliant day on Burgh Island!

And the summer fun doesn't stop there! If Tom Crocker Day isn't enough, we'll be firing up the BBQ again this Saturday from 12pm to 4pm 🍻

The Pilchard Inn has been shortlisted in this year's Hospitality Awards!

We'll find out later this year whether we've been awarded Gold and if we've taken home the top prize in our category!

One week to go until Tom Crocker Day! 🏴‍☠️

Tom Crocker was a pirate and smuggler who, according to local legend, hid his treasure in the island's caves and made The Pilchard Inn his favourite haunt!
