Apart from our 2 signature dishes (Nihaari and Paaya's), in a few months, we are thinking of launching a 3rd signature dish.

If you have a great & innovative idea for our 3rd dish, please inbox us, as we take all advice very seriously.

The Benefits of eating Nihari: Nihari is more than just a lip-smacking meal, it loads your plate with a host of health benefits.

This concoction was heralded for its curative impact on many cold-induced health complaints, such as sinus, cold, and congestion.

Owing to its energy boosting properties, nihari persisted as a staple meal for feeding the labor class through the Mughal reign. Nihari is originally an Arabic word, which might explain why it’s considered a breakfast item. Nihari was transported to Pakistan by the refugees from Delhi after partition.

Nihari is traditionally cooked with beef shanks. However, over the years, nihari nurtured under the innovative practices of the cooks and now you can also treat your taste buds with mutton, lamb, or chicken nihari.

The cooking method of nihari is predominantly ancient. The chefs use large vessels to make it and left it for simmering over a low flame for about 6-8 hours. This low and slow cooking of meat retains its natural juices, keeps essentials nutrients and gently dissolves the connective tissues of meat. This cookery style also allows every ingredient to share its unique flavor, resulting in a thick aromatic gravy when done right.

The red meat in nihari is an optimal source of protein, B vitamins, phosphorus, iron, and zinc. Its presence makes nihari an excellent choice for the bodybuilders looking for growth and strengthening of muscles. It is also favorable for individuals with bone fractures and can help prevent osteoarthritis as it functions to maintain bones, repair tissues, and boost immunity.

The spices that play a vital role in bestowing nihari its sole flavor are too chock-full of healthy amalgams. They have been used since ages to relieve aches and deliver some promising anti-inflammatory effects. Their disease-fighting antioxidant properties prevent the occurrence of a host of diseases including, cancer and diabetes and are believed to help fight off infections, purify blood and aid fat loss.

Paayas: Trotters

The paya originated from the amalgamation of South and Central Asian cuisine. The dish was adapted by the cooks of Lahore, Hyderabad and Lucknow.

Subsequently, paya became popular all over present-day India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Outside of the Indian subcontinent, paya is available in restaurants that serve South Asian cuisine

Recipes for this dish vary regionally. The soup base is created by sautéed onions and garlic, where a number of curry-based spices are then added to the meat and bones. The cooked dish is served with a garnish of fresh diced ginger and fresh long coriander leaves, along with fresh sliced lemon.

It is cooked on mild heat for hours (usually overnight) on the stove.

Historically, when people used wood or coal as a cooking fuel, preparation of this dish would start at night, slow cooking it in the coals until the morning. This dish has a soup-like consistency and is usually eaten as a breakfast food in the winter months with naan.

Why not experience it for yourself?

Nihari: The word “Nihar” originated from the Arabic word, “Nahar” which means “morning”. It was originally eaten by Nawabs in the Mughal Empire as a breakfast item after their morning prayers.

Nihari was developed in Old Delhi, India, during the reign of the Mughal Empire. Noblemen would eat Nihari after their sunrise prayers. It later became a regular breakfast dish for the working class due to its energy-boosting properties.

Nihari used to be slow-cooked overnight in large pots in order to be given to labourers when they participated in the substantial construction projects sanctioned by the empire.

After Pakistan gained its independence in 1947, a huge wave of immigrants from Delhi settled in Karachi. As many of these immigrants were already involved in the food industry, restaurants were quickly established in Karachi.

When classically prepared, Nihari usually takes approximately 6-8 hours just to stew, not to mention preparation time.

Why not experience it for yourself?
