We welcome all walks of life at Northern Soul Kitchen whether you are passionate about the environment or you need somewhere that will give you a warm welcome and a wholesome lunch without serving you with a bill afterwards. Using unsold foods we create a full menu of options for all - we believe that good food shouldn't go to waste so we save it from a landfill fate and bring delicious dishes to the community from our café space in Berwick.

Thanks to a few more purchases and furniture donations by lovely people we have a bit more of a dining space upstairs.

We will be practising today using this as our overflow, so for the first time, if downstairs is full, you can come up here for a table! We will see how it goes today with our amazing wee team, we are prepped with walkie talkies at the ready 😂

I am sat here after a crazy busy Friday slinging pastries, coffees, and lunches, totally exhausted but full to the brim with gratitude.

I can hear the quiz goers upstairs laughing, and one of our lovely regulars just sent me this photo. The community around us is incredible, and we feel so lucky.

I can't quite believe we have been here for 6 months already! We are well and truly settled in now with things happening most weeks, events taking off and ideas buzzing.

Thank you so much for your support and patience during this transitional time, it hasn't been easy but it has been so worth it to see our little corner of Marygate & Golden Square come to life!

We are really proud to be breaking even with all these new costs that we have never faced before and that is all thanks to you all for showing up for us in our new space so please do keep showing up for us in these darker months - we are still here and will need you more than ever!

And lastly a huge thank you to our wonderful landlady Sarah for sharing our vision and trusting us with this beautiful building ❤️

Our relaxed LGBTQIA+ hangout is from 2:30pm til 5pm and is a chance to meet, chance to chill in a safe space and just be you knowing you are welcome, celebrated and the coffee is banging

That low autumn sun is hitting the cafe space so beautifully this morning! Excited to start a new season fresh as daisies after our little holiday.

Thank you, everyone, for bearing with us so we could have a rest and to our wonderful team for keeping us open for the weekends 🥰

But we are BACK! Open Thursdays - Mondays with coffees, Mumma Jo homemade cakes, pastry day tomorrow and lots of yummy food too.

Ok so I heard about pudding clubs a while ago - this movement in the 80s to bring people together and celebrate the humble pudding and now I have to run some 😅

If you know the family you already know we are a tad sweet treat obsessed and there's a keen baker or two in the crew so we will be firing up the oven to make delish cosy bowls of autumn / winter comfort each Friday evening.

This goes alongside some longer opening hours on Friday evenings from 23rd October. We will elongate our day to stay open until 6pm (Fridays only)

This means you can grab a post work cuppa, enjoy a pastry if we have any left or join in on the pudding club fun.

Each week the puds will change, they might rotate a bit because some just deserve more than one week IMHO (sticky toffee pud, apple crumble...)

This will be Pay What You Can at the mo, there will be a suggested donation price for those that want a guideline and the option to pay if forward for someone else next week. So hopefully each week there will be a certain amount of prepaid for puds to hand out, we will keep you posted ❤️

We will take preorders up until midday Thursday and we will confirm the pud of the week on Mondays!

Ray & Millie are off to enjoy all that Valencia has to offer - a much needed break away after a pretty long stretch of 2026 concentrated on work - the move, the renovations, the Food & B**r Festival, it has all been amazing but also a lot.

Since January we haven't been able to have more than 2 consecutive days off and have struggled to get time off together. The joys of a husband & wife team and a family run business means when we need time the business needs to close.

Big big love to our team taking over these past few days who have kept the place going for the weekend so we could head off!

We say goodbye to our lovely Mirren now as she jets off on her next adventure. If you have been in this summer then you too will have grown to love her, we will miss her cheesy grin, cheeky humour and attention to detail.

So for this week sorry folks no Too Good To Go bags or Share Shops but this weekend we host another fabulous exhibition with Chris Morrison for the 2nd weekend of Berwick Open Studios and we will be serving delicious homemade cake and fabulous coffee
