Hospitality is at breaking point, and VAT is a huge part of the problem.

Our industry is under immense pressure. Rising costs, increasing taxes and shrinking margins are forcing far too many independent restaurants, pubs, cafés and hotels to close their doors. Tom Kerridge suggests reduction in VAT to 10% would provide much-needed breathing room and help protect jobs, local businesses and our high streets.

🥵 It’s official… the kitchen is trying to turn our chefs into toast! ☀️😂

With the sunshine sticking around, we’re making a few changes from Thursday to Sunday to help keep our amazing team a little cooler.

Our little old Berkeley Tea Rooms is full of character… but sadly, not air conditioning! So, to keep everyone smiling (and not melting), we’ll be serving a reduced menu for a few days.

The good news? There’s still plenty to tempt you! 😋

🍳 Scrambled egg on toast
🥪 Fresh sandwiches
🥗 Lovely salads
🧀 Ploughman’s lunches
🍰 Homemade cakes
🧋 Iced coffees, smoothies & milkshakes – because nobody should have to drink a hot cuppa if they don’t want to! 😉

By keeping things a little simpler in the kitchen, we can stay open, look after our fantastic team, and still welcome all of your lovely faces. ❤️
