We are aware there has been speculation online about why we remain closed, and we would like to clarify the situation.

Tasty Bites is temporarily closed following a significant escape of water incident which required substantial reinstatement works to the building. What was initially expected to be straightforward repairs became a more complex process involving detailed inspections, technical assessments and compliance checks.

As a food business, we have strict legal responsibilities. We cannot reopen until we are fully satisfied that the premises is safe, structurally sound and compliant with all required standards. Safety and hygiene must always come first.

The extended timeframe has been due to the nature and complexity of the works — not because of any wrongdoing or hidden issues.

We kindly ask people to avoid speculation and rely only on official updates from us.

We truly appreciate the continued patience and support from our loyal customers and look forward to welcoming you back as soon as everything is properly completed.

Tastybites Update

Dear Customers,

We understand there have been many rumours circulating, so we want to clarify the situation directly.

Tastybites will reopen as soon as the necessary building regulation documents are provided. We share your frustration with the delays, and we truly appreciate your patience and support during this time.

While we had hoped to reopen sooner, it’s essential that all work is completed thoroughly and safely. At this stage, we are unable to provide a specific reopening date, as we don’t want to make promises based on factors beyond our control.

As soon as we receive confirmation that the work is finished, we will immediately update you with a reopening date.

Update on Building Works at Tastybites

We regret to inform you that there has been a delay in the ongoing building works at Tastybites due to an unexpected structural issue with the floor. We are currently assessing the situation and working with our contractors to resolve it as quickly and safely as possible.

We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who shared their feedback on the Benfleet page. Your comments mean the world to us, and we’re taking them to heart as we plan our improvements. Your input is helping us create something truly special, and we can’t wait for you to see it.

While Benfleet is undergoing its transformation, our Canvey café remains open and ready to serve you. We’d love to welcome you there during this time!
