Hey everyone it’s Lauren! 😁
I’ve nominated my boss/bestfriend, the heart behind Fern Coffee Shop, for the 2026 Eastside Award for Tourism/Hospitality Hero of the Year, sponsored by Visit Belfast and I couldn’t think of anyone more deserving.

The Fern has always been about so much more than coffee and food. From the very beginning, it was built around community, kindness and bringing people together. It’s a place where people know they’re welcome, where friendships are made, and where supporting the local community has always been at the heart of what we do.

But what makes Jane so special is everything she does behind the scenes. Throughout the year, she constantly looks for ways to give back supporting charities, fundraising, getting involved in community events and using Fern as a space to help make a difference.

She doesn’t do it for recognition. She does it because she genuinely cares. ❤️

I’ve watched how much heart, time and energy she puts into The Fern and into the people around her. She took a dream and turned it into a little community of its own, and I honestly couldn’t be prouder to work alongside her.
