We’ve noticed a huge spike in card payments recently, so we wanted to ask a small favour from our customers.

If you have the choice between cash and card, paying by cash genuinely helps our small business.

❤️ Helps us keep investing in our staff, quality and local community

🚨 STORMONT — GET YOUR FINGER OUT AND STOP DAYDREAMING! 🚨

This isn’t about one business giving off because our bills have gone up. This is about small businesses right across Northern Ireland being squeezed from EVERY direction.

⚡ Electricity increasing
🔥 Gas increasing
🥔 Food & ingredient costs increasing
💷 Wages and operating costs increasing
🧾 And hospitality is still dealing with 20% VAT

Meanwhile…

🇩🇪 Germany: 7% VAT on restaurant food
🇮🇪 Republic of Ireland: 9% VAT on qualifying hospitality food
🇬🇧 Here: 20% standard VAT

Germany reduced its restaurant food VAT to 7% this year. The Republic reduced qualifying hospitality VAT to 9% from July. Why are our businesses expected to keep absorbing increase after increase?

And this isn’t only about whether a business makes a profit.

Small businesses support their communities.

In just the last 6 months, we have donated over £2,000 to Ardoyne Association’s food larder.

We also provide over £200 EVERY MONTH in meals to Belfast City Inclusive Football Club for their players.

We’re proud to do it. ❤️

But when a business is forced to make cuts, eventually there are no easy cuts left.

Sponsorships get cut.
Donations get cut.
Community support gets cut.

And who ultimately loses out? Our communities and our people.

We’re fortunate. We’re established and we’ll keep our doors open.

But there are businesses across Northern Ireland that simply won’t be able to.

So where is the urgency?

Stormont was down for years. You’re back. What are you actually doing for the small businesses already here?

Businesses employing local people TODAY.

Businesses paying rates TODAY.

Businesses supporting clubs, charities and food banks TODAY.

Westminster — REDUCE HOSPITALITY VAT.

Stormont — fight for our businesses and give them meaningful support.

🤝 Support our communities.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Support local people.
💷 Help businesses keep people employed.

Because if we wait until businesses start closing their doors, IT’S TOO LATE.
