The Gasworks is situated in the heart of the Radisson Blu Hotel, Belfast. It is based within The Gasworks in Cromac Place which was the central power source for the rapid economic growth that put Belfast at the heart of the Victorian commerce for over 150 years. Belfast’s street lights and factories that were central to the city’s economic success at the time were powered by the coal gas created w

ithin the Gasworks development. In 1985, gas production has ceased and the land, which was once owned by Marquis of Donegall, was purchased by Belfast City Council, the building of which was only possible with the profits made from the Gasworks. The Gasworks is now a modern business park which now is host to a wide range of enterprises including the Radisson Blu Hotel and small enterprise workshops. It is estimated that 2,500 workers are currently situated within the Gasworks site. The Gasworks prides itself on the history of the Gasworks site, naming itself after the historical site and thus merging with the legacy that is the GASWORKS.
