Belfast Barge Belfast's only floating Maritime Museum, Live Music & Event Venue! Moored beside Waterfront Hall.

Lagan Legacy is a registered charity set up with the mission to present the history and industrial heritage of the River Lagan and the people that used it by way of a permanent exhibition. The ‘Home place’ for the exhibition is housed on a barge, which is permanently moored adjacent to Lanyon Place, which is located to the rear of Belfast’s Waterfront Hall. Lagan Legacy purchased the ‘MV Confiance

’, a former cargo barge, in 2006 and sailed it to Belfast. It has since been fully renovated to house a museum, a multi-use performance space and a café. It is set to become a cultural hub on the River Lagan, regenerating the area and encouraging citizenship as well as economic development. We are so honoured that so many made the Belfast Barge their home for the Fleadh. We got to know so many repeat customers.

What should we do to make next year even better??

Long post incoming...

Fleadh Cheoil what can we say... you were amazing. We had an absolute blast meeting so many new people and making new friends. From local to international visitors it was an absolute honour to host everyone.

Did you come on board during the Fleadh - if so, tell us what you thought.

As a venue we pride ourselves on being a charity owned venue that is managed and staffed by musicians. Therefore, we have an ethos - by musicians for musicians. We knew going into the Fleadh that we wanted to really showcase as much music as possible. From programmed events through to giving musicians an open platform to come onboard and start a session. Therefore, we felt so honoured on Saturday night that a load of musicians from all across the world made calls to each other. We ended up having two huge free sessions going on across two decks of the boat.

Also, a massive thank you to all the musicians, workshops and artists. Without whom, there would be no Fleadh. In no particular order; Laura Henderson Music , Two Pipers, two story tellers / Beirt phíobairí, beirt scéalaithe, The Old Courthouse Session Band, Seoid, Step with Annette, Laim F Jones, Belfast Traditional Music Trail, Sean Kelly, Cinemagic Film Festival, Catharine Kingcome, The Night Hearts, Mark Hegan, Foreign Mornings and all the musicians who came on board for sessions.

Finally... a MASSIVE shout out to all the volunteers in the blue and yellow who became key to our success during the period. We couldn't have done it without you.

Now... here is where we need YOU. If we were to keep it going and run regular sessions, Irish Language classes, Dance workshops. Would you attend???

Last day of Fleadh Cheoil on the Barge

We have yet another packed programme and lots of opportunities for musicians to come on board to play in or start a session

Kicking off at 3pm we have the Belfast Traditional Music Trail in with their educational look at the history and influence of traditional music. Told via live musicians and dancers.

At 4pm we have Step with Annette with a mixed folk, dance and ceili workshop

Rounding off we have The Old Courthouse Session band from 6pm till late.

We hope to see lots of you there.
