Reminding our lovely customers that The Tawny is now closed till Tuesday 29th September.
I might take this opportunity to address a few issues that keep coming up online.
It has been pointed out to me that we're 'never' open and that we're always on holiday and other takeaways nearby never close.
Those other shops are staff run shops where a boss might show their face every now and then.
The Tawny is not a staff run shop, it is a Kirsty run shop and Kirsty has 2-3 weeks off every year and Kirsty is 50 and fecking shattered. I have had 2 sick days in 10 years so apart from the aforementioned 2-3 weeks annually I'm always there the 5 days that I'm supposed to be, missing all sorts of s**t along the way but that's my fault choosing to be there to personally burn folk's dinner 🙂
If you don't like The Tawny it's completely fine, canny please everyone but just ignore us if you do!
Another point is that we've never won any awards.
My close customers know my feelings about awards...
A massive percentage of hospitality awards are bought and paid for and if not then they're still a money making scheme, with participants expected to fork out for large table packages at glitzy ceremonies so they can ensure some sort of win and take a photo for social media etc. This is great for those up for taking part but it's not for us.
We've been nominated numerous times for different award scenarios but it really doesn't interest me, I don't need it in my life and the rare occasion i get dressed up and go oot I don't need cameras about thanks very much ☺️
A customer bringing me in a burnt scone on a friday and the amazing tips my lassies get are better awards 🩷
As usual I go on a bit but I always like to be honest and I consider myself pretty laid back but it gets a bit much sometimes...the hard freckled skin is a wee bit chipped.
Anyhoo the chipsteaks are flying out the door, we might even have a few wee more surprises going into winter 😍
