September is here… and along with it brings some much needed rain, but the sun isn’t done just yet!
We’re looking forward to the ‘ber’ months… and we have a real treat in store this October..
Mike MacKechnie will be here to talk us through a pub crawl of the Lost pubs of Bedford.
Just the job on a chilly October eve, pint in hand, ensconced in the cosiness of the Devvy.
Join us on Tuesday October 13th 7.30pm, for a trip down memory lane.

A sunny cup of coffee before the rain starts. Bank holiday Monday is upon us, and I’m afraid after a very busy weekend, all the b**r festival b**rs have now sold out! We still have some ciders left and plenty of b**rs left on the bar.

This afternoon we have the fabulous Jessica Hodge here with live music from 4pm. And I’m told there will be a few Dolly numbers to look forward to, in tribute to an absolute icon lost this week. 😔
The weather may be changeable but, to quote the late great Dolly..
“If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.” 🌈🌈🌈🌈

Day 3 of the Devvy b**r festival, and despite yesterday’s deluge we had very busy day!
A big thank you to the Dirty Rhodes band who were as always absolutely brilliant!
Today Crown and Heel are back from around 3pm.. what lip smacking special do they have lined up today I wonder. 🤔

From 4pm to 4.45 we have live music with Alex Finkenrath and Johnny Parrella. . And from 5.30 we have the fabulous Out of the Hat!
I’m afraid some of the b**rs have sold out but we have a good few left and also plenty of ciders!
So why not mosey on down to the Devvy for an end of summer yahoo! 🍻🍻

Day 2 of The Devvy b**r festival.. and we have no intention of letting rain stop play!
After a busy day yesterday a big old dent was made in the b**rs but we still have plenty left!
Crown and Heel will be serving burgers here from around 3pm…. And tonight we have live music from 8.30pm with the fabulous Dirty Rhodes band.
So there you go pesky rain… put that in your pipe and smoke it! 😁😁

And so it begins…. The Devvy bank holiday b**r festival begins at 4pm…. Crown and Heel will be serving their delicious burgers from 5pm.
All b**rs are present and correct and ready for quaffing. The weather is looking changeable but we will soldier on regardless, with gazebos and umbrellas at the ready! 😁

After a busy July, we’ve had a couple of lovely leisurely August weeks with holidaying for us and our staff, and now the heat has slightly abated we’re looking forward to our Bank Holiday b**r festival Bonanza!

And this year marks 10 years of b**r festivals for us, so this year our ale selection will comprise of B**r festival favourites!! The best selling b**rs of the last 10 years… more details to come but I can assure Butty Bach will be making an appearance!

We also have the Simon’s from Crown and Heel here (it wouldn’t be a b**r festival without them) with their oh so delicious burgers.
We have live music with The Dirty Rhodes band on Saturday 29th at 8.30pm, and Out of the Hat Sunday 30th 5pm and Jessica Hodge Monday 31st 4pm.
Fingers crossed for bearable sunshine, and here is a flurry of photos from b**r festivals past to whet your appetite!

I think there might be a little do going on down the river this weekend… 🤔
So Crown and Heel smashburgers are pretty much taking up residence in our glorious garden to keep us fed, and we are here to keep you watered. As a festival treat we have two delicious ales to add the list… Timothy Taylor Boltmaker, and Wainwrights Gold.

The weather continues to be glorious and the countdown starts to the River Festival with one week to go, and only 3 days to the nail biting semi final!! Eek!
We are so happy to have our lovely Lizzie back from her year in France to help us out this Summer, and the heat is much easier to deal with when you have a rocket lolly in your hand.
Come and say Hi to Lizzie and the rest of our fabulous team this Summer… our beautiful garden awaits…. 🌷🌻🍻🍸

Quarter final day tomorrow, and as it’s set to be a scorcher, why not sack off the cooking and grab a delicious burger from Crown and Heel, they will be here from 5pm and I’ll be serving right up until the match starts!
All tables are booked tomorrow, but there is still room to stand and mingle and cheer on your team!!! ⚽️⚽️⚽️🍔🍔🍔🍺🍺🍺
