How have we gone from burnout and job hunting, to a record month and genuine optimism in the space of just a couple of months?
I opened up about our struggles with adapting to our new kitchen. We took a leap of faith by moving the business out of the house before we were ready and the gamble didn't feel like it was going to pay off.
But having faced down failure and making a decision to try a new approach, it feels like we're turning a corner. I've tried teaching myself new skills to pivot in the way we use social media and share more about our business, our purpose and the effort behind it.
It's scary learning something new and putting yourself out there when you don't know how it'll be received. But in doing the scary thing, and putting ourselves in front of new audiences, it's taught me why I believed the effort was worth it all along.
Because there are so many people out there who are adapting to a coeliac diagnosis, learning a new relationship with food, and in need of the occasional treat that reminds them of what it was like before. Or to be able to share with family or friends something that their coeliac diagnosis had denied them.
And if Big Bear Blondies can play a part in providing that experience for people, and to see the reactions of people seeing there are safe options for them that aren't limited to a simple supermarket 'free from everything' option. That's something worth pushing for. That makes the effort worthwhile. And that renewed sense of purpose will keep us moving forward.
A couple of months ago I didn't know whether we were going to make it. Embarrassed that as a 40 year old dad I might have failed and have to start a new career all over again.
Now, I'm filled with a renewed optimism and a belief that we are capable of making the next step up in our business. Thank you for the support and for showing us that some risks are worth taking.
