We are delighted to share that Hansom Restaurant has won the ‘Newcomer’ award in this year’s Cateys, hosted by The Caterer 🥂.

Judge Thom Hetherington described Hansom as ‘a perfectly realised, cohesive restaurant, shaped and delivered by the passion and talent of Ruth Hansom. She is chef-patron who is not only leading her own business, but also taking the whole sector forwards’.

This award is testament to our small and brilliant team who continue to champion our brilliant industry and our corner of North Yorkshire every day.

Congratulations to every other winner who took home their title at yesterday’s ceremony. Cheers to us! ✨

We will be opening up outside this evening for drinks from 5.30pm and tomorrow from 12pm.

Come and soak up some sun on the cobbles, the weekend is almost here 🍷☀️🍻

A little reminder too… We will be closed from Saturday 27th June to Friday the 10th July as we are taking to Harrogate Food&Drink Festival this weekend and then on to a few other outings. We look forward to seeing you over the next few days and on our return 💥

Thank you The Roost Retreat 💥☀️❤️

A few months ago, we wrote about overlooked market towns in North Yorkshire. We got some things wrong.

Claire from Roost Retreat at Leeming Bar sent us a careful email correcting three mistakes, and then spent several paragraphs describing the place she lives in, with a level of detail we hadn't come close to in our original piece.

So we went back and wrote it properly. The Wensleydale Railway, an abandoned harbour, a Michelin-listed restaurant we'd missed entirely, and a gin distillery a mile from the village.

Our current menu featuring Spilman Farming Strawberries, Isle of Wight Tomatoes , Bedale Broccoli, Wild Bass landed in Ulverston and stunning Beef Fillet from just up the road.

Join us tomorrow for a day of great food, drinks and community spirit in support of the inaugural Bedale Bolt 10k, in partnership with Hansom Restaurant!

Side Hustle will be open and serving up bacon butties from 10am with more tasty bites from midday (swipe for the menu), all alongside drinks and live DJ music as we cheer on the runners in what is promised to be an exciting day.

Also catch Ruth Hansom with the claxon at the beginning of the race and awarding medals to all the fabulous participants at the end too 🏅

Last week, Hansom Restaurant hit the road to the Big Smoke for a very special collaboration, celebrating the very best of British food and drink with .

Hosted in the prestigious Food & Drink Studio on third floor, Ruth’s exclusive five-course dinner showcased a menu championing Yorkshire produce, perfectly paired with wines from Whitewolfe Estates.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for such an exceptional evening!

We’re delighted to share that will be joining Saturday Morning with James Martin tomorrow, bringing a beautifully fresh and vibrant dish to the kitchen - Citrus Cured Whitby Sea Trout, paired with Pickled Yorkshire Rhubarb, Blood Orange, Fennel and a fragrant Garden Herb Sauce 🌿🍊

It’s set to be a brilliant morning all round, with great conversation and plenty of laughs as Ruth chats alongside Michael Ball, Galton Blackiston and Glynn Purnell.
