It is with heartfelt sadness that we write this post, having just attended a meeting in the town hall with the Mayor, Town Clerk and Councillor Alwyn Rowlands we have decided that we will no longer be pursuing the licence for Happy Valley Pavilion.
Yet again this year we have been left in the dark by the Council about access and issuing of the licence for the Cafe. For the past 18 months we feel the council and Town Clerk have shown complete disregard to us and our business. It has been extremely stressful constantly fighting for information but the lack of communication, transparency and acknowledgment of how this has affected us, as a seasonal business which relies on tourism, is beyond comprehension.
Losing the easter trade for a 2nd year with no reasonable explanation other than, in our opinion, that the town clerk and certain council members seemed to relish in causing chaos and animosity, led to our decision to withdraw from the cafe
It is most hurtful to us that we feel we are letting down our Staff, Friends and Customers by taking this action however we hope you understand and support our decision. We want to thank everyone for your support, custom and friendship over the last 2 years. We especially want to say a massive thankyou to Pat, Michelle, Georgia, Amy, Non, Ella, Della and Layla for all your hard work, it has been a joy to work with you all.
We would also like to thank Councillor Pierre Hutchison, Councillor Nic Parker for all their efforts on our behalf.
We hope to see lots of you on Easter Sunday at , for the easter egg hunt, lots of cake and raffle prizes (info to follow soon) 🐰🫶
