This week at 8pm, The Playgroup Open Mic brings the music right onto the stage in our main bar, and we want to see what you've got.

Whether you’re a seasoned performer, a bedroom guitarist ready to play your first chords in public, or just fancy sharing a song or a tune, the stage is yours.

Just turn up, plug in, and play. If you're not performing, come grab a pint, find a spot by the stage, and support some incredible live music.

This week's live music starts tonight at 9 with Brooks Williams & Aaron Catlow.

Acoustic blues-inclined American guitarist, moved to Cambridge, Cambridgeshire rather than Mass., teamed up here with Aaron from Sheelanagig on fiddle, who plays folk, swing, and anything else 4 strings lead him to. Original songs & instrumentals.

Bath Folk Festival is a collaboration between Bath venues and musicians, supported by a grant from The Bell, featuring visiting artists from traditional backgrounds and local projects based wholly or substantially on traditional foundations.

An example of both is Bristol folk/jazz melody weavers Carmina, performing today in an expanded line-up including regular collaborator, renowned uilleann piper Diarmaid Moynihan.

Unfortunately, airline timetables, budgets, and Diarmaid’s teaching job mean he can’t stay for the whole gig so we're aiming to start early to get the absolute most out of him.

Bath Folk Festival takes over The Bell today!

At 3pm, Lydia ‘n’ Mick are on the decks, sharing the joy of British folk music in the gloriously British setting of The Bell Inn, Walcot. Expect fine tunes, good company, and maybe even a few spontaneous jigs and reels!

And then at 9pm, we have live music from Headmix Collective. ’90s pioneers of Brit Folk. instruments – played with skills well beyond their peers on the festival circuit – over an unstoppable beat built on the dub style of the day. Still music to build a revolution to.
