🐾 Dogs & muddy boots welcome The pub in South Stoke village near Bath was closed and left empty four years ago; now the owner has agreed to sell; our community-based company has exchanged contracts with the owner with completion due in September 2016, subject to a successful fundraising campaign; we need to raise £525,000 to buy the pub and then some more for refurbishment and plan to raise the money through selling shares to the people of South Stoke, Bath and beyond.

Happy National Hospitality Day! 🍽️

Today we’re shining a light on the people you don’t always see. Behind every plate that leaves The Packhorse kitchen are Head Chef Chris, Sous Chef Louis and our brilliant kitchen team, working hard together to make it happen.

From the prep before service, the final finishing touches on a plate to the washing up afterwords. It takes skill, care and a proper team effort to serve up food we’re proud of and keep things running smoothly.

A huge thank you to Chris, Louis and everyone working behind the scenes. The Packhorse wouldn’t be The Packhorse without you.

Bath Skiffle Band are back with us in a couple of weeks time for our annual Apple pressing day with the Honeys cider team.

Join us on Sunday 11th October from 2pm, for a fun-filled afternoon of apple pressing, local cider, live music, tasty food and much more.
The apple press will be up and running, with Bob Honey and team, ready to help turn those last garden apples into fresh juice. If you’ve got a few apples going spare, bring them along and don’t forget a few empty containers if you’d like to take some home.
Then settle in and enjoy an afternoon at the pub, with live music from the Bath Skiffle Band, tasty hot pork rolls, and, of course, a taste or two of cider.

Bob will also be on hand to share his cider-making expertise, so come along with your questions and find out more about the process.

Everyone is welcome, so bring the family and come and enjoy a lovely autumn afternoon with us at the Packhorse.

We’ll soon be welcoming Bob Honey and the team from Honey’s Cider back to The Packhorse for our Annual Apple Pressing Day — one of our favourite autumn traditions! 🍂

Join us on Sunday 11th October from 1.30pm for a fantastic FREE afternoon out for the whole family.

Apple Pressing Day is all about bringing our community together, getting stuck in and celebrating the season. Whether you’re bringing apples to press, popping by for the music and food, or simply enjoying the atmosphere, everyone is welcome. 🍂

🍏 Bring your clean windfall apples — cookers, eaters or cider varieties — and watch as the Honey’s Cider’s team turn them to fresh juice before your eyes! Bring some containers because you’ll be able to take your fresh juice home to drink, freeze or even ferment!

With Dr Kate Werran

When African American soldier Leroy Henry was sentenced to death for a r**e he did not commit, it sparked an extraordinary reaction from the local community—becoming a critical chapter in civil rights history.

Dr Kate Werran will be in conversation with her father, David, at The Packhorse—the very place where the story began in May 1944. Together, they’ll reveal how the people of Bath rallied to defend Leroy Henry and ultimately helped to save his life.

📚 Books will be available to purchase, with a signing after the talk.
