Café Lucca has quickly gained a loyal following amongst locals and tourists alike. With its high ceilings and tall windows on two sid

es, it’s light and airy with tasteful furniture and chandeliers to give it the lofty air of a Venetian coffee house. At the far end, there is a counter virtually buckling under the weight of the cakes on display – everything from dainty Florentines and cinnamon tree cookies to enormous wedges of carrot cake and pineapple and cherry fruit cake. Lunch might take the form of chicken and pistachio terrine with fig apple chutney and toast or a simple salad of buffalo mozzarella, vine tomato, basil, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Or perhaps you might fall for the charms of a grilled goat’s cheese, roasted peppers, artichoke hearts and pesto bruschetta, or a panini filled with roast beef, shaved Parmesan, pickles and horseradish.
