Picnic season has arrived, and we have just the bottle for it.

Phil en bulle is a lightly sparkling Loire Valley wine that’s crisp, refreshing and easy-drinking.

Perfect for picnics, long lunches, impromptu gatherings and sunny spots in the park.

We’re pouring it by the glass at OAK, and you can also pick up a bottle to take away for the weekend.

Catch the golden hour with an early supper at OAK.

The end of May always brings some of our favourite evenings of the year: warm light through the windows, cold glasses of wine, and simple seasonal dishes arriving from the kitchen.

This weekend we’re serving cannellini beans with celeriac, cashew and pangrattato from our late spring menu.

Our evening service begins at 5.30pm.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday morning for our gardening masterclass with .boiss and to Elsie for sharing her knowledge so generously 🌞🌱

The sun was shining, but before the heat of the day arrived, we spent a lovely couple of hours in the garden talking about no-dig growing, biodynamic methods, composting and the small decisions that help create healthy, productive growing spaces.

There were plenty of thoughtful questions, lively discussion and shared enthusiasm for growing food well, whether in a large kitchen garden, an allotment or a few pots at home.

We’ll be back in the garden soon for a cordial-making workshop. More details to follow.

At OAK, ours is the kind of food that’s better shared.

A few plates for the table, a bit of everything, passing things back and forth. Seasonal dishes, much of it coming straight from our garden 🌱

It’s how we like to eat, and how our menu is designed.

Works just as well for a date night as it does for a long catch-up with friends.

A couple of recommendations from the team that we are currently pouring:

🍒 Cherry Cider from Rye. Sussex cherries fermented and blended with cider. Light, tart and properly thirst quenching.

🍷 And Cabernet Sauvignon from Slovakia. Delicate and refined, with dark fruit and a herbaceous edge. Slobodne is a family run winery, revived after decades of interruption during the 20th century, now run by two sisters and their partners, and producing some of the most exciting wines coming out of the region today.

Join us for dinner.

We’ve shifted into that time of late spring abundance in the OAK garden (and nearby woodland with the tail end of the wild garlic). Elsie’s latest roundup from the beds shows everything coming into its own: rhubarb, artichokes, salad leaves, chard, garlic, and a greenhouse full of seedlings pushing through.

It’s exactly the right time to be in the garden, when everything is moving quickly, decisions matter, and small changes can shape the months ahead. A chance to see things in real time, ask questions, and learn what actually works.

So this is a good time to let you know we have just a handful of spaces left for our Gardening Masterclass next Saturday 23rd May. Spend the morning with .boiss , whose knowledge comes from years of working the soil day in, day out, practical, thoughtful guidance on biodynamic, regenerative and no dig methods, alongside companion planting, crop rotation, composting and natural fertilisers.

Tea, coffee and cake from the OAK kitchen are included.
