This week's Six on Saturday...

We went for a wander around the Garden Centre to find six perfectly sensible things to show you this week.

We think it went rather well. 😂

🐦 A rather magnificent robin — who also happens to be hiding a selection of crocus corms. A bit of colour now, and another surprise to come in spring.

💀 A skull emerging from a pile of books — because apparently a tasteful pumpkin just isn’t frightening enough for some people.

💔 Some important consumer advice:
“Have you ever dated a man? You may be entitled to compensation.”
We’re saying nothing… but when we consider Bill… 👀

🍷 And another useful life lesson and fridge magnet:
“How much do you usually spend on a bottle of wine?”
“Half an hour?”
Another one we may have learned from Bill… 🍷😂

☕ Corporal Jones: DON’T PANIC!
Excellent advice when you realise quite how much you’ve already loaded into the back of your car.

☕ Captain Mainwaring: STUPID BOY.
Bill has warned us, so we have absolutely no comment to make.

Phew! We’ve made it to the middle of the week… and frankly, we all deserve lasagne. 😂

And the good news? It’s on our specials board ALL WEEK!
Treat yourself to our Deepdale-made ‘I Deserve It’ Lasagne:

🍝 Homemade, slow-cooked rich ragu
🧄 Garlic bread
🥗 Crisp, fresh salad

To celebrate all things autumn scarf season has officially arrived at Deepdale…

And, as usual, we may have got slightly carried away.

Plain ones.
Heart ones. ❤️
Flowery ones. 🌸
Bright ones.
Autumnal ones. 🍂
And a few that are probably best described as “Oh, I LOVE that one!”

They are all perfect for the the cooler days of autumn, or just for adding a bit of colour as you go about your day.

But there is one small catch…
When they’re gone, they’re gone. 👀

So if you spot one you love in the photos, you might not want to leave it too long.

It’s getting rather difficult for our team to wander around Deepdale at the moment — there’s far too much temptation. 😂

So, which would you choose?

🐮 A Highland cow planter, already filled with spring bulbs for a fabulous display next year?

🎃 One of our slightly scary Highland coos, dressed up to the nines for Halloween?

🩷 Gorgeous autumn colour from Gaultheria and heathers?

🌸 Beautiful Cyclamen to brighten up the garden as the days get shorter?

🍰 A slice of one of our rather tempting home-baked cakes?

🦆 Or… that duck.

And the unmistakable look of someone who thinks they’re in charge.

Any resemblance to our glorious Deepdale leader is, of course, entirely coincidental. 👀

🌿 We LOVE seeing where our plants end up! 🌿

One of our lovely customers, Maggie, has sent us these photos of her garden — and just look at those coleus! 😍

What a fabulous explosion of colour. Rich reds, lime greens, burgundy and pink, all jostling together and looking absolutely magnificent.

Maggie also added the rather wonderful comment:

“Best garden centre for healthy plants.” ❤️

We couldn't really ask for a nicer compliment than that.

Thank you, Maggie, for sharing your pictures with us — it’s always a real treat to see plants that started their journey at Deepdale thriving in their new homes.

👑 ALL HAIL KING BILL 👑

We sent our glorious leader off to Autumn Fair to find exciting new things for Deepdale.

It appears to have gone to his head.

Within hours, Bill had found himself a turf throne, surrounded himself with flowers and even acquired a loyal hound to sit faithfully at his feet.

While His Majesty is sitting comfortably, we have been busy hunting down some rather lovely new ideas for Deepdale.

Long live King Bill — and his loyal hound! 👑🐾🌻🌿

We had a message from Amy at Amy's little Book Shop, saying she was going to be hiding books in and around Barrow/Barton...

We had a message from Amy at Amy's little Book Shop, saying she was going to be hiding books in and around Barrow/Barton for the children to find, with clues being given out on social media. The child who finds the book, is free to take it home to read and then re-hide it if they wish.

We so loved this idea we partnered with Amy to hide some gardening and nature books for children to discover and develop their joy of reading.

For the last few days, Bill has been wandering around Deepdale quietly singing “Pretty in Pink” to himself.

We were beginning to wonder why.

Now we understand. 😂

Just look at them.

Hundreds of gorgeous cyclamen have arrived, filling the plat area with pink, cerise, red and white — and we have to admit, they really are rather fabulous.

Perfect for pots, containers and sheltered spots, cyclamen are a brilliant way of bringing a burst of colour to the garden as summer begins to give way to autumn.

So this Bank Holiday Sunday, perhaps it’s time to add a little Pretty in Pink to your garden. 🌸

And should you spot Bill amongst them, humming happily to himself…

Please don’t encourage him. 😂
