John “ drummer‘s dad” stop by the Castle Inn this afternoon with a letter he would like to convey to the residence of Landkey.

John is not part of Facebook so he has asked me to pass on his words, they are as follows.

“ to all my Drummers dear friends from his dad.

I cannot find the right words to convey my heartfelt thanks to you all for your kindness and thoughts expressed here in the Landkey forum on the passing of my dear best friend and companion Drummer.

It is wonderful to know he had touched so many hearts in and around this village.

I would give anything to have him here and able to thank you himself the only way he knew how with loving shoves, kisses, and cuddles.

Night, night “ big fella”, I will always love and miss you so very, very much

Before i post the CCTV footage of the people stealing one of the skeletons from our display, if it’s returned tomorrow, we will take no further action. I would like the culprits to consider that when you disrespect us by removing items from the pub that are not yours to take, you are disrespecting the village. We make an effort for everyone to enjoy and not for individuals to take advantage of. Return it or face the consequences.

Thank you to our community

Back in October 2022, when we lost our local village shop, the Castle Inn stepped in to provide newspapers for the community. What began as a way of helping to fill a gap has become a valued part of village life over the past four years.

We are delighted to see our village shop reopen and on the 3rd of November 2026 we will be handing over newspaper sales to the new owners. We would like to wish them every success in their new venture and hope they receive the same fantastic support from the community that we have been fortunate enough to enjoy.

We would also like to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks to everyone who has purchased their newspapers from us over the years. Your support has been greatly appreciated and it has being a pleasure to provide this service for the village.

Although from the 3rd of November will no longer be selling newspapers, we very much look forward to continuing to welcome you to the Castle Inn and seeing you in the future.

We’ve made absolutely no effort whatsoever for Halloween this year.

No decorations. No spooky atmosphere. No surprises to make you jump. In fact, no reason at all to get dressed up and join us.

we’d probably stay at home if we were you.
