Just Eat has been running in our background since Covid, but we’re turning it off for good. Here is why:
The sums just don’t add up.
Third-party delivery apps don’t just take a slice; they take the whole shawarma. Between Just Eat’s 30% commission, the VAT on their fees, and the VAT on the total sale, we give away over £5.60 out of every £10 order. To survive that, businesses are forced to mark up prices. On top of that, you pay delivery fees and service charges. Everyone pays more, the driver looks completely stressed out, and the tech platform pockets the cash. It only works for one party—and it isn’t you, us, or the driver.
Driver delays and app algorithms out of our control.
We cook real food fresh from scratch to our high standards. But with Just Eat, we often had fresh, piping-hot food sitting on the pass, slowly losing its temperature while waiting for drivers to arrive. To make matters worse, delivery algorithms stack multiple orders into one run. That means once the driver finally leaves, your dinner spends extra time riding around town in a thermal bag while other stops are made. You deserve to eat our food at its absolute peak, not after a tour of the local area.
Moving forward: Direct Timed Collections
We are shifting all takeaway exclusively to Direct Collection through our website.
* Better Quality: Timed collection slots mean your order is cooked precisely for when you walk through the door. You grab it straight off the pass, piping hot, and take it home at its absolute best.
* More Choice: We’re unlocking our full dine-in lineup for takeaway—including specials like our Curried Ramen and our Tres Leches Cake.
* Extended Hours: Collection is available Friday & Saturday, 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM.
