Last week, we were delighted to welcome Hayley from Weston Park to Hoyland Leisure Centre to present the big cheque and confirm our final fundraising total. 💛

What started as an idea turned into a brilliant community effort, with members, staff, local businesses, volunteers and supporters all getting involved along the way.

From donations and fundraising activities to people giving their time, sharing posts and helping us spread the word — every bit of support helped us reach this total.

A huge £3,750.04 raised for Weston Park Cancer Charity.

A massive thank you to everyone who played a part.

This is something the whole Hoyland community can be proud of. 👏💛

Some more great training sessions with Tom, “The Iron Warrior” as Instructor Mark calls him. 💪

Tom had devised his own workout plan, and the two of them determined the appropriate weights and exercise set-ups that he could use from his wheelchair.🧑‍🦽Mark also came up with some alternative ideas, and creative ways to adapt exercises to suit Tom’s needs, ranging from sled pulls to shrugs. For nostalgia, he even threw in some old-school exercises such as wrist rollers.

Both veterans of the iron game, 🏋️ they shared stories of their own training exploits over the years and had a few laughs along the way. 🤣 Maureen, the activities lead from his care home said, “What a pleasure it was once again to see him in his element. Thank you Mark for your support, patience and guidance you gave Tom, you are a credit to your company. He honestly can't wait to return.”
