Self Reflections

In the depths of my soul,
I carry an innocence so pure ,
Like a river that flows,
Steadfast and sure,
Yet the world around me,
Filled with malice and hate,
Has marked me for persecution,
Chosen as their fate.

They accused me of crimes,
That I did not commit,
And scorned me for things,
That I did not permit,
They cast me out into the wilderness alone,
And turn their backs,
On the one they've thrown.

But I remain rooted,
In my truth and sincerity,
For I know that my innocence,
Is the only clarity,
I have endured their insults and their pain
And through it all,
My dignity remains.

For deep within me,
Lies a strength that can't be broken,
And a spirit that refuses to be silenced or spoken,
Though my body may be wounded,
My soul now is free,
And I'll walk on,
With the courage that is given to me.

Persecution tore me apart,
And left me to bleed,
But it can never touch the essence of my being, the seed,
That's been sown in the garden of my life,
To flourish and grow,
And no matter what happens now,
My spirit will continue to glow…
