Plans to cut business rates by 30% from April 2027 for eligible small and medium-sized hospitality, leisure and accommodation businesses have been welcomed by Mair Rowlands MS and Elfed Williams MS.
Speaking in the Senedd, Mair Rowlands - Bangor Conwy Mรดn highlighted Antoniazzi's - penguin cafe in Bangor, which has been a prominent presence on the High Street for 92 years, as an example of the small businesses at the heart of the local economy.
She said the reduction could give independent businesses the confidence to grow and invest, while helping to breathe new life into town centres.
Elfed Williams said businesses had faced significant pressure from rising costs and wider economic challenges, adding:
โThis rates cut will provide businesses with some certainty and confidence, helping them to plan ahead, invest and support their communities.โ
