🥂 WE’RE FINALISTS AGAIN! 🥂🏆

Well… our little café has only gone and done it again! 🥹❤️

We’re absolutely delighted to announce that Café Roo is a finalist for Best Breakfast To Go at the Northern Ireland Food-To-Go Awards 2026! 🎉

There were over 700 entries this year, so to make it through to the final is something we’re incredibly proud of.

This is our third year as finalists at the Northern Ireland Food To Go Awards . In 2024, we were lucky enough to take home a win 🏆, last year we were finalists in four categories, and now here we are again in 2026. ❤️

But honestly, this one feels particularly special.

Behind every breakfast, every coffee, every lunch and every order is a team who work incredibly hard to keep this little place going. I couldn’t be prouder of them. ❤️

And then there’s you — our customers.

We know times are tough. We know people are watching what they spend, making budgets stretch further and being more careful with their money. So the fact that you continue to choose to spend with us genuinely means more than you probably realise.

Every visit, every order, every recommendation, every “see you tomorrow” — means the world. ☕️🥹

So, from all of us at Café Roo… thank you. ❤️

And of course, we’re already looking forward to the best night of our year — getting the team dressed up, heading to the Crowne Plaza and having a proper Food-To-Go Awards night out! 😂🥂

Whatever happens on the night, being named a finalist among 700+ entries is an achievement we’ll absolutely celebrate.

Here’s to our team, our customers and our little Café Roo. ❤️

Bring on the awards night! 🥂🏆✨

☀️ A wee update on our opening hours! ☀️

As many of you know, we would normally close over the July holidays, but this year we’ve decided to stay open and instead take our annual break in August. You’ll find our opening hours for the next week in the post above.

Just a reminder that we will be open on the Bank Holiday Monday from 7:30am–10:30am, so if you’re heading out and fancy breakfast before your day begins, we’d love to see you!

With the lovely weather (long may it continue! 🌞), we just wanted to let everyone know that these hours may be subject to change if temperatures continue to rise. Our kitchen gets incredibly hot at the best of times and with fryers, grills and hotplates running all day, it can become a really challenging environment for our team to work in.

The safety and wellbeing of our staff will always come first. Over the past week we’ve had a couple of occasions where we’ve had to pause service for a short time to allow the kitchen to catch up and to make sure our team weren’t becoming overwhelmed in the heat. We know this can sometimes be frustrating, but we really appreciate your patience and understanding.

Summer is always our busiest time and when everyone arrives at once, there can be a little longer wait than usual. We’re doing everything we can to keep things running smoothly while making sure our team can work safely and continue serving the quality of food you expect from us.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support, kindness and patience. It honestly means so much to our whole team. ❤️

Tomorrow is Kaela’s last shift at Café Roo and honestly, we still can’t quite believe we’re writing this.

Kaela has been with us from the very beginning. When we opened Café Roo, we were learning how to run a business as we went along and she was right there through every single part of it. Over the last two years as supervisor, she has gone so far beyond her job title it’s impossible to put into words.

She’s been a plumber when the sinks blocked, an electrician when plugs needed fixed, a cleaner, a builder, a gardener and absolutely everything in between. No matter what needed done, Kaela just got stuck in without ever complaining.

When we first met Kaela, she was only 16 years old and watching her grow over the years has been so special for us. She stopped being “just an employee” a long time ago — she became family and is such a huge part of Café Roo.

At the beginning of this year, when Cole was in hospital and I had to step away from the business to care for her, Kaela stepped up and ran the whole café at just 18 years old. Quite simply, we could not have done it without her.

Wherever she goes next, they are incredibly lucky to have her. She has been absolutely fantastic and she will be massively missed by all of us and by so many of our customers too.

Kaela heads off to America next Saturday for Camp America and we’re so excited for her new adventure — even if we’re heartbroken to see her go.

If you’re around tomorrow, please pop into Café Roo to say goodbye and wish her luck on her travels. We know she’d love to see some familiar faces before she heads off.

Thank you for everything, Kaela. We love you and we’re unbelievably proud of you ❤️

🏍️ NOTICE: We’ll be closed this Saturday & Sunday after the staff suddenly discovered a very passionate interest in superbikes… 🍹🍷🍻😂

Apparently the North West 200 has claimed the entire team for the weekend, so we’re taking the hint and giving everyone a well-earned couple of days off!

We’re open late tonight until 9PM for anyone needing their Roo fix before the big weekend ☕🙌

To everybody heading up the coast — enjoy the racing, enjoy the craic and most importantly stay safe 🏁

We’ll be back open as normal on Monday ❤️
