After a brief sabbatical we will be open again from tomorrow (Saturday 27th) with delicious things aplenty. We hope to see you over the weekend!

Good morning folks,

I’m sorry to say that the kitchen will be closed today due to the chef and baker both being ill.

The cafe will still be open for coffee and cake until the usual time of 2pm.

We’re very sorry to all that have booked tables or were hoping to eat with us today.

The cafe will also be closed on Thursday and Friday next week, due to a private function, but we will be back open again on Saturday 27th.

Hey folks!

Here is one of our specials for the weekend, mashed avocado with heirloom tomatoes and poached eggs on sourdough toast.

The tomatoes are from the Isle of Wight and are absolutely beautiful and delicious. I’m very glad to be able to use such wonderful produce on our menu.

Shakshuka!

This is my take on a shakshuka, I’ve wanted to put one on the menu for a while and though I’ve not made one before today, I’m very pleased with the results.

This shakshuka is a mixture of charred tomatoes, red peppers and onions with basil, cumin, salt, black pepper, garlic and (thanks to some help from my Italian friend) an unfathomable amount of olive oil. The mixture is topped with two eggs, baked in the oven and served with sourdough soldiers and a small amount of tangy yoghurt. This dish (except for the yoghurt) is dairy free. Delicious!

One of our specials for the weekend: heirloom tomato sourdough bruschetta with basil and halloumi.

The tomatoes are organic, from the Isle of Wight and are absolutely packed with flavour. The salty and creamy quality of the halloumi is a delicious contrast to the sharp sweetness of the tomatoes, marinading in olive oil and sherry vinegar. Delizioso!
