🥃 Campbeltown Loch Blended Malt Scotch Whisky 🥃

Campbeltown is Scotland's smallest whisky-producing region, currently only three distilleries operate there: Springbank, Glengyle and Glen Scotia.

Five malts from the region's three distilleries have been used to produce this genuine Campbeltown blended malt scotch whisky. Matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks.

An unmistakable Campbeltown whisky: initial sweet, softer notes of fruit, honey and butterscotch give way to reveal more complexity with traditional maritime and spice notes combining with the subtlest touch of peat smoke.

We feel this cracking dram is a perfect pairing for all three of the d'Argental collection. The decadence of the sherry influence will compliment the dense and gooey Chèvrerousse, the bourbon influence will help extract the flavours of the warm butter and hazelnut in the Brebirousse, and finally the salinity and slight peat will marry perfectly with the milky sweetness of the Vacherousse.

🍷 Die Agteros Chenin Blanc Joostenberg Estate 🍷

Notes of baked apples, honey and flint are balanced by the refreshing acidity and chalky texture characteristics of the Chenin Blanc grape. Joostenberg is a small, family-owned and run wine farm, in Muldersvlei on the border of Paarl and Stellenbosch. A blend of several vineyards on the estate, with vines ranging in age from 4-40 years old. Farmed organically.

Introducing 🧀 The d'Argental Collection 🧀 our favourite cheeses of the late summer season, August through September.

The term d'Argental pertains to a family of rich, soft and creamy ripened cheeses primarily produced in Lyon, in the Rhône-Alpes region of France. The d'Argental brand is a specialised range of cheeses produced by Fromi and renowned cheesemaker Jean-Claude Guilloteau. The cheeses share a signature soft-ripened, creamy texture with a striking orange tinted rind. Their interiors are decadent and gooey with a variation of flavours depending on the milk source used during production.

🐐 Chèvrerousse, Red Goat (Top)

A dense interior when young, Chèvrerousse matures to an irresistible gooey and silky texture. Elegant and mild, it trades the 'goaty' funk of traditional chèvre for a bright, gentle tang.

🐑 Brebirousse, Red Sheep (Middle)

The most widely recognised cheese in this range, its thin, orange rind provides savoury notes of mushroom which contrast with the rich, soft and creamy interior. A balance of lactic sweetness and savoury intensity meet notes of warm butter, hazelnut and a subtle meaty tang.

🐄 Vacherousse, Red Cow (Base)

A perfect marriage of a decadent triple-cream cheese with a classic washed rind. Vacherousse is velvety and yielding with the texture of clotted cream or melting butter. Fresh and rich with a bright milky sweetness balanced by sophisticated savoury dimensions.

Introducing 🧀 Délice de Bourgogne 🧀 our Cheese of the Month for July.

For 6 generations the Lincet family have been masters in preserving the cheese-making heritage of France. Created in 1975 by Jean Lincet, Délice de Bourgogne directly translates to 'delight of Burgundy', where this cheese has its origins.

It conveys French taste, refinement and authenticity. Lactic ferments, rennet and a touch of salt are added to full fat cow's milk in addition to crème fraîche, bringing the butterfat content to around 75%. The cheese is then aged for a minimum of two weeks, depending on size.

The end result is a rich and luxurious cheese with a bloomy white exterior carrying notes of mushroom, and a smooth, almost spreadable interior that softens to the texture of whipped cream towards the rind. The flavour profile of butter and cream finish with a pleasant, lactic tang.

We're excited to share pairings for Ubriaco Rosso, our favourite cheese this month!

🍷Valpolicella Classico Superiore Terre di Cariano Cecilia Beretta 2020🍷

Valpolicella Classico is a traditional red wine from the heart of the Valpolicella region in Veneto, Northern Italy.
Crafted primarily from Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara grapes, it offers bright aromas of sour cherry, red currant, and wild herbs, with subtle notes of almond and spice. Fresh acidity, soft tannins, and elegant structure make it a wonderfully food-friendly wine and an excellent match for Ubriaco Rosso.

🥃Tomintoul 11-Year-Old Cask #48🥃

Exclusive to Robbie's Whisky Merchants, this Speyside Single Malt is the perfect accompaniment to our cheese of the month.

We absolutely love red wine and whisky of course, so this was an easy pairing. The Tomintoul 11-year-old was fully matured in a 1st fill bourbon cask and offers creamy layers of crème caramel, custard cream biscuits and milk chocolate married with stewed gooseberry, which is a perfect marriage with Ubriaco Rosso's crumbly texture, fermented grape and dried fruit flavour.

The result is a well-balanced cheese and whisky-flavoured liaison!

We suggest pairing Ubriaco Rosso with spicy fig jam, walnuts and a dark, ye**ty homemade bread. Alternatively, opt for dark grapes and berries to enhance the cheese's deep, fruity flavour.

Introducing 🧀 Ubriaco Rosso 🧀 our Cheese of the Month for June!

Ubriaco Rosso has its origin in the Veneto region of Northern Italy. Legend states that the technique dates back to World War 1, when local farmers needed to hide their wheels of cheese from Austro-Hungarian soldiers. Their favourite method was to plunge the cheese into barrels containing red wine and pomace, and when the wheels were retrieved the cheeses had completely transformed in both appearance and flavour.

Rooted in necessity and survival, the production of Ubriaco Rosso has evolved into a controlled artisanal practice. Young cheese wheels are submerged in barrels filled with Raboso, Merlot or Cabernet, where they soak from weeks to months. During this time the wheels absorb the characteristics of the surrounding liquid. The cheese is then dried and aged for a further 6 to 10 months; resulting in a purple exterior with a pale, ivory interior. Its texture is firm and slightly crumbly with a crystalline bite. The cheese itself is highly fragrant, sweet and fruity, with notes of raisin, fermented grapes and a sharp, tangy bite.

It's back. First harvest honey from Low Craighead Farm is now available.

In 2021 the Phillips family planted a wildflower meadow at Low Craighead Farm with one clear goal, to help feed the abundant bee population. The meadow is filled with a rich variety of nectar producing plants, including Comfrey, Clover, Sorrel, Oxeye Daisy, Knapweed, Yarrow and Yellow Rattle. Alongside this you will find Elderflower, Damson, Sloe and Gorse as well as a tree plantation with Lime trees for later in the season. Harvesting began in 2023, and from this first harvest won first place at the Belleisle Bee & Honey Event.

The honey is raw and runny with a delicate floral fragrance and the occasional hint of elderflower. It is velvety smooth, having been triple filtered with the colour varying throughout the season from golden yellow to rich amber.

🥃 Laphroaig 10 Year Old Sherry Oak Finish Single Malt 🥃

It’s true that blue cheese is an acquired taste, but those who enjoy it enough will reap all the benefits of this pairing made in heaven.

That’s where peated whiskies, especially from Islay, step in, with layers of smoke and, in this instance, a sherry influence.

This classic Islay Dram aged in ex-Bourbon barrels and European Oloroso sherry oak casks is a perfect match for Montagnolo triple cream blue cheese. We really enjoyed the creamy subtle blue tang of the Montagnolo with the balanced flavour of this Laphroaig.

🍷 Saumur Champigny Lieu-Dit Les Villaises Cave de Saumur 🍷

100% Cabernet Franc from the Loire Valley, France. It is a deep ruby red in colour with aromas of crisp blackcurrant and raspberries, with fruit compote and delicate balsamic flavours. Grapes used in the production of this tiny lieu-dit (named vineyard) are grown on the site of a Roman villa called "Salmonciacus" dating back to the 3rd century BC!

Introducing 🧀 Montagnolo Affiné 🧀 our Cheese of the Month for May.

Montagnolo is a premium, triple cream blue cheese produced in the Allgäu region of Bavaria, Germany. An area where dairy farming has tradition dating back over 300 years.

Montagnolo reflects the region's long standing expertise in cheese production by exemplifying the fusion of traditional Bavarian dairy craftsmanship with modern cheese making techniques. The resulting cheese has a natural grey edible exterior contrasting a pale ivory internal paste, mottled by fine blue/green veining. This is accompanied by flavours of cream and butter with a delicate blue tang that never overwhelms.

Made from pasteurised milk, Montagnolo is a highly accessible cheese. It is gluten free, suitable for vegetarians and classed as lactose free due to the maturation process, as it ripens slowly at low temperatures.

A perfect pairing with fresh crusty bread, my personal favourite. Equally delicious on your cheeseboard with black grapes and walnuts, or crisps, crackers and a soft, sweet fruit chutney of your choice.

Introducing 🧀 Wijngaard Goats Gouda 🧀 our Cheese of the Month for April!

Wijngaard Goats Gouda is an artisanal cheese produced by the Van den Wijngaard family, who have been maturing cheeses in Woerden, Netherlands since 1936. Their Gouda is matured for a minimum of 4 months in specialised caves modelled after the historic Reypenaer cheese cellars, resulting in a unique, complex, yet balanced character due to natural fluctuations in temperature and humidity. The texture is smooth, creamy and velvety, melting easily on the palate. The flavour profile is subtle yet sweet, with caramel notes to finish.

Wijngaard Goats Gouda elevates any occasion with its exquisite taste and exceptional craftsmanship. As sweetness is a natural bridge for this cheese, we recommend candied ginger, fig jam and apricot preserves; or honey with pear and apple slices on rosemary or rye crackers.
