WELL… WE’VE DONE IT AGAIN 🏆🍔
Homestead Smokehouse has been named a finalist in the British Burger Awards 2026 – Best of Scotland!
After bringing home Burger Bar of the Year at The Food Awards Scotland earlier this year, it feels pretty damn special to now see our little Smokehouse in Ayr named amongst the finalists for Best of Scotland.
We’ve never tried to be like everyone else.
We make our own buns. We make our own sauces. We smash our burgers fresh. And we keep trying to get 1% better every single day.
Huge credit to our team who keep pushing the standards, and to every one of you who keeps walking through our doors and supporting what we’re building.

Gantry makeover — DONE. 🔥
From stripping the old gantry right back to the bare frame, to rebuilding it in timber, staining, varnishing and adding the warm lighting… what a difference.
A couple of very long days, plenty of head scratching and a few choice words along the way 😂 — but we couldn't be happier with how it turned out.
And because we apparently don't know when to stop…
The blackboards are next. 👀

Day 3 — Bruce is back where he belongs 🤘🐂
The gantry makeover is really starting to come together now.
Timber clad, Jacobean stain, first coat of varnish on and the new warm lighting is up — completely changed the look of the bar already.
Still a few finishing touches to go, but we're getting there.

Back open Wednesday as normal.

DAY 2 IN THE BAG 🔨🔥
Yesterday we ripped it apart.
Today it really started becoming Homestead.
Cladding finished ✅
Trim finished ✅
Sanded and stained in Jacobean ✅
First coat of varnish on ✅
Two very long days, but what a transformation already.
Still to come — another coat of varnish, warm lighting, blackboards, finishing touches and, of course…

DAY 1 DONE! 🔨🐂
What a difference a day makes!
This morning we stripped the old gantry right back to its frame. Tonight, all the new timber cladding is fitted!
Still plenty to do — staining, burnt timber detailing, warm lighting and, of course, getting Bruce back where he belongs.
But for now, the tools are down and Day 1 is in the books. 💪

NO GOING BACK NOW… 🔨🤠
This morning it was a gantry.
Now it’s a very large wooden skeleton hanging over the bar. 😂
Years of panels and trim stripped away and we’re right back to the original frame.
Bruce is temporarily homeless, but don’t worry…
He’s coming back to something much better. 🐂🔥
