Bigger Boat has sailed off into the sunset...

So fresh on today is another new drink for us.. Diamondback, an IPA from Firebrand. It has a 5.5% abv and a really crisp, refreshing taste. Very lovely indeed!

A couple of new beers for us to try this week.

First up, from Tudor, we have their special, Dragon Pale Ale. It has very subtle flavours and is really easy and smooth to drink.

Our next newbie is Start Line, an IPA from Bristol Beer Factory. Full of fruity flavour, it is absolutely delicious and extremely refreshing.

And making a return is Danny's Brew, a superb bitter from Cerne Abbas. This was very popular last time we had it and is a really tasty beer.

My beer of the week has to be Start Line.
I could happily drink it all weekend but won't get the chance as I suspect it will sell out!

We have had our global visitors map in the pub for nearly 2 years. Since then people have been in from 47 different countries and over 140 pins have been added.

We love to hear about everyone’s travels and the great places they have visited around Devon and Dorset.

By popular request we now have a new map “UK visitors to The Ale Way” so visitors and all our lovely locals can put a pin in. We started the pins with one in Lyme Regis were Heidi grew up and one in NorthAllerton where Rob did.

We’re looking forward to seeing where our UK visitors and locals come from.

Given the hot weather we're due to have this weekend I've gone for 3 fairly light beers this week, all of which should prove to be cool and refreshing.

First up we have a seasonal pale ale from Quantock called Glimmer of Summer. As with all Quantock beers it's an absolute smasher with slightly fruity and hoppy flavours.
Next up is the return of Golden Chalice, a golden ale from Glastonbury. It is really easy to drink with a subtle hoppiness to it.

Lastly is a guest ale courtesy from our friends at The Bottle Inn. It is Goachers Fine Light Ale, a light bitter. It looks like a golden ale but has a slight bitterness to it. I'll be interested to hear what people think of it but for me it continues our fine recent run of bitters.

That said, my beer of the week has to be Quantock's pale ale, it's fabulous and perfect for Friday's BBQ.
Darkness, our stout from Exeter Brewery is still available but I have a couple of exciting stouts and porters waiting in the wings for when this keg has been drunk!

Fresh on keg is PK3, a fabulous IPA from Stardust Brewery in Maidenhead.

It has a slight haze and has a lovely hoppy taste. Extremely refreshing in the hot weather...or to accompany some tasty food at our BBQ on Friday 10th July

A different line up this week from that which was planned due to an exploding barrel of beer on Monday! But it's still 3 absolute crackers!

From Kent Brewery we have the return of The Quiet American, a fantastic pale ale which flew off the shelf last summer. It's a fabulously refreshing pint which is far too easy to drink.

We have the Classic IPA from Utopian which should also go down perfectly across the sunny weekend that's being promised. Very little to choose between these two.

And at the darker end of the scale we have Firefly Bitter, an amber ale from Hanlons. This is yet another cracking bitter, which has a lovely flavour to it. I think it just about wins my beer of the week.

Lots of things coming up at The Ale Way over the coming weeks, starting with a quiz this Sunday, followed by our next BBQ on Saturday 11th July. More details to follow on the BBQ....
