A proper countryside pub, good food, a warm welcome and an atmosphere that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile.

A little Christmas whisper…

We know it might feel a tiny bit early to be talking about Christmas, but behind the scenes, we’re already starting to think about those festive days.

There’s something rather special about Yuletime at The Bushel.
Good food, familiar faces, plenty of laughter and those little traditions that make the season feel like Christmas.

We’re putting the final details together now, and we’ll be sharing everything with you very soon.

Come in, pull up a chair, and settle in for a while.

There’s something about walking through the doors at the start of the week. Familiar faces behind the bar, a warm welcome, conversations that pick up where they left off, and that first drink that signals the week is underway.

It’s the little rituals, the people and the stories shared along the way.

The Bushel & Strike isn’t just somewhere to come for a drink or a meal, it’s part of the community, and we’re proud to be here.

There's a shift coming in the air.

The kind that has nothing to do with the calendar and everything to do with how the light's changing, how the evenings are pulling in earlier than they were a few weeks ago.

Not long now until the fire goes on for the first time this year. Coats will start staying on the backs of chairs a little longer. Windows will fog up. Nobody in any rush to be anywhere else.

Outside will be grey. In here, it won't be.

Some of the best days of the year at the pub start exactly like this.

Some afternoons don't need much of a plan. A bottle of red, opened slow, poured a little generously because there's no rush to finish it. Camembert baked until it's warm and gooey right through the middle.

Across the table, someone you don't have to perform for. The conversation drifting wherever it wants to.
Old stories, no stories, comfortable silence in between.

The late-summer light doing that thing.
But you’ve got nothing else planned, no reason to rush.
Just an overdue afternoon with a good friend.

Introducing the delicious new chicken dish on our menu:
Roasted chicken breast, confit leg raviolo, savoy cabbage and bacon with wild mushrooms.

The chicken breast is roasted slowly enough that timing is no longer the question; only patience remains.
Then the leg, confit, folded into a raviolo. (Because the bit most people rush past deserves better than that.)

Savoy cabbage and bacon underneath—a pairing that doesn't need explaining if you've ever had it done right—and wild mushrooms scattered through.
Earthy, and a little unexpected against everything else.

Every element is there for a reason.
Every flavour is carefully considered.

Simply good food, done right. With passion and care.

Tables are set. The team are ready.
And somewhere behind the doors, there's a different kind of quiet happening. Checking, re-checking, the last calm minute before the first booking walks in.

Because hospitality is about so much more than what happens once a guest takes their seat. It’s the thought that goes into making them feel welcome, looked after and, while they are with us, genuinely special.
The little details may go unnoticed, but the feeling we create doesn’t.

Introducing one of our gorgeous new starters.
Carrots, salt-baked until they've given up all their sweetness.
Sitting alongside a spiced date puree that carries a little warmth without shouting about it. A bright hit of orange cuts straight through the richness, ricotta brings a creamy contrast to the gentle kick, and toasted seeds bring the bite that ties it all together.

It's a small plate, but it's layered with flavour.
Sweet, spiced, sharp, creamy, all in a few forkfuls.
