29 years ago, Bettini's was born ❤️
Back in 1997, I took a leap of faith and opened a coffee shop in Ashington. Before that, the shop had been my Mam's wool shop, 'The Spinning Wheel'. After a lifetime in the wool trade, she was ready to retire, and she kindly gave me her trust and encouragement to follow my dream.
My mam was called Betty, and Bettini's was named after her. A little piece of her coming with me into this new adventure. ❤️
And so, Bettini's began.
What started with a pint of ice cream being made in my kitchen at home soon became gallons being made at the shop! 🍦 Over the years, Bettini's has grown, changed and become such a special part of our lives, and, we hope, a special part of the lives of so many of our customers too.
After almost three decades, it's now time for us to take the next step and hand our Ashington shop over to our manager, Lesley.
Lesley has been such an important part of the last 7 years and we couldn't be happier that she is the person taking it forward. She'll be opening the doors under her own name, Lesley Ann's, and making it truly her own, which feels exactly right. We know she has the drive, enthusiasm and passion to carry it into the years ahead, and we wish her every success and happiness in this exciting new chapter. ❤️
Bettini's itself isn't going anywhere. We'll still be in Cramlington, so if you're heading through that way then please give us a visit!
Most of all, we want to say a huge thank you to every single customer who has supported us in Ashington over the past 29 years. To those who came through our doors when we first opened, those who have been with us throughout the years, and all the new faces we've welcomed along the way, thank you. Your support, conversations, laughter and loyalty have meant more to us than you will ever know.
And to all the wonderful staff, past and present, who have helped make Bettini's what it is, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You have been such a big part of our journey.
It's impossible to put 29 years into one Facebook post, but we will always look back with enormous pride and gratitude at what Bettini's has become.
Now it's time for a new chapter…
