Kent Gliding Club always brings the glam! KGC celebrates its 70th birthday this weekend (with roots going back around 100 years). We owe a huge debt of gratitude to these early pioneers:
1. Margaret Crabtree
2. Hugh Gardiner (the driving force behind the club’s foundation)
3. Miss Jones - first female solo at the club
4. Steve Green (P1) and ‘George’ Ballast (who weighed 8st)
I hope they would be proud of what the club has become over the past seven decades.

Beneath the patient heavens, where Westering sun
Weaves threads of gold through wandering clouds,
Our silent wings are found.
They seem to dream of boundless blue and white,
Of spiralling where skylarks soar to sing.

And so ends another fair day’s graceful gliding,

HATS!! Something you will definitely notice when you first come to Kent Gliding Centre is the selection of fine headwear worn by the regulars. The bucket hat is not just for Oasis fans, but is the perfect accessory for keeping the head protected from the sun whilst allowing better all-round visibility than a longer-peaked cap while walking around the airfield, and soaring high above the Kent countryside.
