Welcome to the weekend. We can't compete with everyone who has outdoor seating/pub gardens etc, but its bl**dy hot out there and what we can offer is a cool(ish) dark space inside away from the heat when you feel you need it, with enough of a breeze pulling through the entire pub.
We've got cold lagers, cider, Guinness, etc to slake your thirst, as well as four of our regular ales alongside this week's special local guest Whim Hartington IPA (4.5%), one of our most favourite ales any time of the year.

Stay cool, stay sunblocked, cheers!

Welcome to what looks like is going to be a very warm weekend. The good news is that both Bass and Pedigree are back on the pumps today, alongside the other regulars, as well as this week's special local guest Roebuck Hopzester (4.2%), a hoppy, citrusy pale ale, perfect for quenching that thirst. Plenty of cool lagers, cider, Guinness and chilled soft drinks available as well if you're feeling over-warm.

The Arts Festival opens up tomorrow with the Streetfest on both Saturday and Sunday, so wander on in when you need a short break from all the entertainment on offer.

Cheers!

Welcome to the weekend. We've got four of our normal range of ales on today (but, sorry again, no Bass for at least another week) and they're joined by this week's special guest, Abbeydale Daily Bread (3.8%), a very traditional session bitter.

Cheers!

Just to say the Bass is now currently out of stock, so time and space to try something else on the bar. Now pouring is Fuller's London Pride (4.1%), the classic premium amber ale.

Cheers!

Welcome to the weekend. Alongside 4 of our regular ales is this week's very special guest, Abbeydale Escape to Reading (4.5%), a pale ale brewed in collaboration with Elusive Brewing, a microbrewery close to the hometown of your host at the Tav. Enjoy it while you can, its a special edition not to be repeated.

Just a quick pointer that Bass is currently in short supply again, so we're expecting a short gap in our supply at the pumps soon.

Cheers!

Quick reminder we're open from 2pm today, for when you need a cool and dark refuge from the heat. Plenty of cold lagers, cider, Guinness etc on tap, you may even be invited to cool off in the air-conditioned cellar if you're really overheated!

Cheers!

Welcome to the Bank Holiday weekend, get the suncream sorted...whilst we hope everyone enjoys a lot of sunshine, we'll be here when you need to cool down in the shade...lots of cold lagers, cider, Guinness etc alongside our bank of ales, which this weekend includes the first of a series of four Abbeydale beers, Moonshine (4.3%), a superb light pale ale and a first appearance at the Tav for the classic Theakston Old Peculier (5.6%).

Cheers!

Welcome to the weekend. Its a busy one, as its the annual Dovedale Schnauzer walking weekend, so they'll be loads of Luna's cousins around town from today.

Tomorrow is also designated as National Pub Day AND its World Whisky Day as well, so please join us to celebrate with a glass or two of either/both.

Alongside our four regular ales, we've got Timothy Taylor's Boltmaker (4.0%) and this week's local special guest, Roebuck Porter (4.6%).

Cheers!

As of today, we've come a little further into the 21st Century with the addition of a website to be found at www.smithstavern.pub.

Its still very much new out of the box, so bear with us as we shape it and add all sorts of bits and pieces to it. Our thanks to Dave Etheridge for creating it for us.

Cheers!
