Cakestand and Crumb is a little gem, hidden down a narrow yard, off the Market Square, in the beautiful Georgian market town of Ampthill. The Vintage Café and Bakery opens Thursday to Sunday and serves a fantastic range of cakes, baked on the premises by owner Eve. She discovered her love of baking whilst running a catered ski chalet in the French Alps and now spends her time thinking up new recipes to give customers a special treat when they visit. The café also serves a good selection of sandwiches and other snacks but their real specialty is a sumptuous afternoon tea. This includes a selection of different sandwiches, scones with fresh clotted cream and jam followed by a variety of cakes including mini pavlova’s served with fresh fruit and cream – perfect for that special celebration! All this can be enjoyed whilst listening to old tunes on a vintage Dansette record player, surrounded by old mirrors, china cups and saucers and other bygone delights. Some vintage items are for sale as are pretty gift items, often made by local crafts people. When the sun is shining there are tables outside and even a water bowl for the thirsty four-legged friend! The café can also be booked for private afternoon tea parties to celebrate that special occasion, hen party or work get together. 🎀 PINK AFTERNOON TEA FOR BREAST CANCER NOW 🎀

We’re delighted to be hosting a special Afternoon Tea to raise money for Breast Cancer Now 💕

📅 Friday 23rd October
⏰ 11:30am–1pm | 1:30–2:30pm | 3–4:30pm
💷 £25 per person

We’re now taking bookings! 🩷

To book, simply message us with:
• Number of people
• Your preferred time slot
• Any allergies or dietary requirements

We can amend the sandwich selection to suit individual requirements, although unfortunately, due to the nature of this one-off event, we’re unable to offer gluten-free, dairy-free or vegan tea’s.

A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking. Please note that deposits are non-refundable for cancellations made less than 48 hours before your booking.

🍂✨ October is almost here! And with a new month comes three new specials for you to enjoy. 🤎

From tomorrow, our October Specials will be available alongside our usual menu throughout the month:

🥪 Savoury: Smoked cheddar & plum chutney panini, served with a garnish & tortilla crisps

🍰 Sweet: Millionaire shortbread cake — already proving very popular after making an appearance over the last few days, so we had to keep it as one of our October specials! 🤎

☕ Drink: Add cinnamon bun or pumpkin spice syrup to any hot drink

So whether you fancy something savoury, something sweet or a little autumnal twist to your favourite hot drink, we’ve got you covered! 🍂☕️

We’re hoping for a lovely, busy weekend and we already have quite a few bookings in for both Saturday and Sunday. 🥰

We still have spaces available for walk-ins, with both indoor and outdoor seating available, as well as takeaway on both days.

A little peek inside our tiny tea room 🤎🫖

As you can see, we really are tiny — with just five tables, our little room fills up quickly! For this reason, we always recommend booking ahead for lunch or tea & cake, depending on which day you’re visiting, as we can’t always guarantee we’ll have a table available.

And if you’re joining us for afternoon tea, this must be booked in advance. 🧁🫖

We’re open right through to and including Sunday this week, so if you’re planning a visit, make sure you get your table secured!

Our tea room will be closed tomorrow, Sunday, but we’ll be at Maulden Village Hall from 8:30am–11:00am for the Maulden 5K Run, selling lots of our homemade cakes and bakes! 🍰🤎

📢 A little update for this weekend…

Unfortunately, we will be closed this Sunday.

However, we are still open tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday, 10am–4:30pm, so there are still two days left this week to come and see us! 🫖🍰

Whether you fancy lunch, afternoon tea, or simply tea & cake, we’d love to see you. 💕

If you’re planning a visit, we do recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment. Just drop us a message and we’ll get you booked in.
