The Elephant and Castle stories🐘🏰

Long before we were serving today’s dishes and pouring today’s pints, the Elephant & Castle was already at the heart of life in Amersham Old Town.

The first recorded woman running the pub was Mrs Nina Marsh who was the innkeeper here in 1911.
But this wasn’t just her place of work….

Nina lived at the Elephant & Castle with her son and two daughters making the Elephant and Caste not just their livelihood but their home.

Just image if the walls could talk.
More than a century later, the Elephant & Castle is still a place where people meet, celebrate, catch up, eat, drink and make memories.

Some things change. Some things stay the same.
This is the first of our Elephant & Castle Stories — and there are plenty more where that came from…over a century’s worth!
