Market House is 10!

So, on the specials board this weekend a 2024 version of the ‘Wild Broccoli’ which was the first pizza we ever made at MH.

10 years ago I had not one clue what would happen when the Market House doors opened for the first time. It changed the course of my life, kick started a revolution in food and turned the fortunes of an entire town around. So grateful to Nick and Jenny for scooping us up and helping me navigate so many things for the past decade. MH house has been the foundation of our business and allowed us to work with the best people. Starting with all the amazing staff we’ve had, our fellow kitchens and bars, the front of house and market management teams, our brilliant suppliers, the market traders who have provided so much support and encouragement and not forgetting the amazing community of Altrincham that embraced us from the beginning and still show up each week 10 years in.

Thank you all.

Good news abounds!

A couple of bits of good news here at HCHQ.

We're lucky enough to be included in the Good Food Guide again for 2024 (https://www.thegoodfoodguide.co.uk/restaurant/honest-crust-sourdough-pizza/id/58922) Delighted to be featured alongside some of our favourites places in Manchester.

Also, today we’re featured in the The Times Top 50 best pizza places in the UK. Again, alongside some great friends and titans of the UK pizza scene.

Really proud of both these achievements after 11+ years of pushing along in this industry. Last few years has really felt like swimming upstream. Massive thanks goes to our team who are grafting day in and day out to produce this pizza. They’re really a lovely bunch of people who work so hard for each other and are a great example to anyone wanting to get into this industry. We couldn’t do any of it without them. Thanks team 💞

Happy International Women’s Day

We’re blessed to have some truly exceptional women working for us at Honest Crust. But this year I wanted to celebrate a woman who, without whom, this business wouldn’t exist in the first place. My Grandma Ruth! I learned so much, most of it without knowing it at the time, about food, generosity and proper hospitality from my Grandma. She always placed food at the heart of a warm welcome and that welcome was extended to one and all. Principles that I’d like to think lie at the heart of what we’re about at Honest Crust.

She was a truly fabulous woman.

Becoming Tom.

At one point I think we had no fewer than 5 Toms working at Honest Crust. Shifts of more than 2 Toms became known as Tom-i-cons. Thanks to the abundance of Toms, each was attributed a distinguishing moniker. Now, after 9+ years of service to Honest Crust, man and boy, Tom B, Aka Metallica Tom, Aka Head of Science, Aka the Last Tom Standing is leaving us. He’ll be joining the wonderful team ISCA where presumably Tom B will finally just become Tom.

We couldn’t be happier for Tom and we say a huge thank you for everything he’s brought to this business. It really is humbling to have had someone of Tom’s talent and ability dedicate practically a third of his life so far to this pizza journey we’re all on. Since the very early days Altrincham Market in his beloved Metallica t-shirt through the ranks to managing the team Mackie Mayor , broadening his horizons in every direction as he’s grown with us.

It’s been a privilege. Best of luck Tom. And much love x

It’s Tom’s last day!

8 1/2 years service. Lord knows how many pizzas that is. But I want to say thanks for every last one of them. What an absolute honour it’s been to have Tom as part of the HC family all this time. He will be sorely missed all of us.

Delighted to announce that taking over the oven at the next Woodfired! supperclub at will be . Fresh off the back of their excellent review in The Sunday Times, Issy will be serving 4 courses inspired by autumn with a main course designed to share. There will be an option to purchase a wine and beer pairing curated by ISCA and Runaway Brewery with their beers and wines by the glass and bottle to buy on the night as well.
