🌿 New Opening Hours

As we’ve moved in to the Autumnal months, we are going to be updating our menu and opening times and we thought we would give you a heads up.

The age old question we’ve received since opening… when or are we going to open on a Sunday? The answer is yes and for now, it will be for Breakfasts only.

We also (hopefully) have a new Fryer arriving (no - it’s not from Argos) some time this week which means, we can start putting on a few hot dishes and daily specials.

❗️ The new menu and opening hours will start from 🌿 Tuesday 29th September 🌿.

We are open as normal this week and we shall put a post on towards the end of the week with the new menus and opening hours.

Just so everyone can plan ahead, we will be closed on Monday 28th September.

For tomorrow we have:

🌿 Ham & Egg Pie
🌿 Sweet Potato & Carrot Soup
🌿 Quiche Lorraine
And potentially, Homemade Sausage Rolls - if I like the look of them when they get out the oven.

🌿 Christmas @ The Fern & Forge Cafe 🌿

We’ve been planning Christmas behind the scenes and we have an array of events happening!

Please note that all events will require a 50% deposit and are booking only. More details and booking information will be posted over the next few days as there are some tiny details to sort before we take any bookings.

Wednesday 9th December - Christmas Candle Making Workshop. 5:00-8:00pm

We’re teaming up with the amazing Dovecote Northumberland to bring you an evening of Festive Candle Making.
On the night, you will make your own Festive Scented Candle along with receiving Dovecote Wax Melts, a coaster and Dust Bag along with a festive snack board and drinks.
There are a very limited amount of spaces available and is for those aged 16+ only.

Saturday 12th December - Festive Afternoon Tea with Live Music 2:00-5:00pm

We will be welcoming the wonderful David McLeish who will be tickling the piano keys with Festive Tunes and Mellow Melodies as you indulge in a festive afternoon tea - with homemade sweet treats such as scones, mince pies, cakes and traybakes as well as a selection of our popular savoury dishes. David is a fantastic musician and may even be open to some requests!

Monday 21st December - Breakfast with Santa

Possibly the most anticipated event for Christmas!
We are still working full details out for this one but Santa did call us today to confirm he could make it. The timings we are still unsure of but he will be here!

Prices will be:
🌿 1 adult & 1 Child £22.00
🌿 Additional Adult £11.50
🌿 Additional Child £10.50
Each adult ticket includes a full English breakfast along with a tea or coffee and each Child ticket includes a mini Full English (Sausage, Bacon, Scrambled Egg, Beans and Hash brown), Orange or Apple juice and a present from Santa himself.

There are a few other things up our sleeves but, we need to iron out the final details before we announce it all.

A little bit of customer information for everyone!

We have a large group coming in at 10:00am tomorrow. Between 10:00 and 10:15am, we will be pausing food and drink service so that we can get their food and drinks out and reduce the wait for everyone else.

We appreciate that this isn’t ideal for everyone but, we only have a small kitchen!

We only have a small amount of tables available tomorrow so we will not be taking anymore bookings and will operate on a first come-first-serve basis.

Between 3:00 and 4:00pm, we will be offering 3 traybakes/cakes for £5 - if we don’t sell out before then. These will be for takeaway only.

We also have a brand new pie on the block…

🌿 Halloween 🌿

We’re planning on doing something for Halloween evening for everyone going out Trick or Treating…

We will be open as usual and from 5:00-7:00pm, we will have a few children’s activities where they could win a “trick” or a “treat”.
Some include (I’m still planning others):
🎃 Classic Apple Bobbing
🎃 Surprise Boxes
All children’s activities will be free.

There will also be Hot Dogs, Soup, Sweet Treats and Hot Drinks available for those that need warmed up while on the trick or treat trail.

🌿 What A Day 🌿

In the 6 weeks or so that I have been open, I don’t think I have seen cakes and traybakes sell as fast as they have today… we must be doing something right!

For tomorrow, we have a few new things on offer as Megan and I have been busy bees.

🌿 “New York Style” Rolo Cookies - there will only be 7… (maybe 6 once I’ve “quality checked” them again in the morning) available as I’m just testing this recipe.
🌿 Triple Decker Brownies - Chocolate Brownies topped with Cookie Dough and finished with a Chocolate Ganache
🌿 Gluten Free Lemon and Strawberry Tarts topped with Crushed Homemade Meringue. Made with homemade Lemon Curd & Strawberry Coulis.

We’ve also got a fresh Quiche & Soup as we also sold out of those…
🌿 Butternut Squash & Carrot Soup
🌿 Bacon, Cheese & Tomato Quiche
