The Old Pound Inn A proper village pub in the heart of Aller. We do good food, cold pints, and a warm welcome. Eight rooms to stay & events most weeks.

Run by Lea - she’ll look after you. Formerly known as the White Lion Public House, this 16th -century pub was re-christened the Old Pound Inn in 1980, named after the old village animal pound that occupied the site before it became a pub. The Old Pound Inn has a good selection of West Country beers that are pulled from the sprung stillage in our cellar. We have an open Dutch fire at the centre of

the bar, a lounge area and snug, as well as a 44-seat restaurant serving good honest food daily. We are of course a dog-friendly place - ask your server if they have any dog snacks available!

Now then, the Somerset CAMRA Pub Trail is back for 2026, and it kicked off this weekend! 🍺

It runs from 18 July right through to 12 September, taking in some of the best pubs across Somerset. Grab yourself a Trail Passport and map, collect your stamps as you go, and you might just find a new favourite local along the way.

It's the 20th year of the trail, put on by Somerset CAMRA together with On The Level Brew Co, and it stands for everything I love about this place: real ale, proper pubs, and a strong local community.

So whether you're ticking off the whole trail or just fancy a proper pint, I've got a warm welcome and a cold one waiting.
