Celebrating Senors Chip Shop, Cairnhill, Airdrie
Twenty-five years of sizzle and steam,
Of batter and salt and a golden dream,
In the heart of Cairnhill, where community’s strong,
Senors Chip Shop has belonged all along.
Through the cold Airdrie nights and the grey afternoon,
When the smell of the fryer hits just like a tune,
The folk of the toon have known where to go,
For a supper that warms you from your head to your toe.
The amazing, the charming, the witty crowd,
Who laugh a wee bit too much and talk a bit loud,
They’ve queued at that counter through sunshine and rain,
And they’ll queue there tomorrow and come back again.
Twenty-five years of faces and names,
Of banter and stories and Airdrie’s great claims,
A chip shop’s not just about fish and a fry,
It’s the place where hello turns to hours gone by.
And now on the 25th, a Thursday to cheer,
The greatest wee supper deal of the year 🧑‍🍳
A £4 supper, twelve choices to pick,
A nod to the loyal, the faithful, the quick!
So raise up your salt shakers, lift up your sauce,
For Senors Chip Shop — the community’s boss,
Embedded in Cairnhill like roots in the ground,
The best kind of treasure that Airdrie has found.
Here’s to the next twenty-five, may they be grand,
With batter still crispy and chips freshly planned,
To Senors — our chip shop, our neighbour, our friend,
A Cairnhill institution that’ll never, ever end!
