It’s a scorcher this week! We thought there’s no better excuse than a slice of something special in the shade of the café.

I’ve made a Pistachio & Raspberry cake — soft pistachio sponge, layered with tangy raspberry jam and silky pistachio buttercream, finished with a crown of pistachios. Light, nutty, and just sweet enough to pair perfectly with an iced coffee on a hot afternoon ☕🧊

Lots of gorgeous homemade cakes in this week, plus a new face behind the counter! My little brother Andrew, who’s coeliac himself, has flown in to help us out for the week and share some of his gluten free baking expertise with us.

We’ve got something special for you this week!

This Gooseberry Crumble has been a real community effort, and I think that’s why it tastes so good. The gooseberries were grown in an allotment here in town and donated to us, along with the recipe to bake them into!

Only a limited amount available, we’ve only made two as they’re a proper faff to trim (my fingers can only take so much). But we’re tucked away on beautiful little George Street, pleasantly protected from the heat.

Tuesday and Thursday treat alert: we’ve got almond croissants from Bakeri Baltzersen landing in the cabinet, and there’s only a handful each time. Buttery layers, toasted almond flakes, a proper dusting of icing sugar, the kind of pastry worth changing your morning route for. They go fast, so if you want one, almond croissant days are your best bet (and maybe don’t dawdle).

Good morning!🥰

Today let us relax a moment by the colourful photograph below in the cosy corner of the sweet village of Addingham in West Yorkshire.
Apart from its beauty to me and Peter and possibly quite a few others there is a natural smile that gets onto our faces at that sight.
Reason being you usually stand here either with a wonderful perspective of opening that door hiding behind the red letter box, and diving into the warm, aromatic, friendly and delicious world of a very special village coffee shop, or (don't know what's better!) you have just spent an hour or so by the amazing wood burning stove enjoying the atmosphere and character of the place, yummy treats, happy banter and... of course just perfect coffees.

It’s UK Small Business Week and we want to shout out one of our favourites — Fetch Walks & Wellbeing!🐾

While I’m here at the café and Sophie’s at work, Ross keeps an eye on Trashcan for us — and honestly, I think Trashcan is starting to like him more than us 😂 Can you blame him? Every day Ross shows up and takes him on a new adventure. Absolutely living his best life.

If you’ve got a dog who deserves the best walks in Lower Wharfedale, go check Ross out. Trusted, local, and clearly doing something right if Trashcan’s tail is anything to go by. 🐕
