KIDS BOOK CLUB 📚

It’s live and the opening theme is YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK ❤️ No set reading, just come to book club and talk about your favourite book and why you love it so much!

Join our Weekly Kids Book Club it’s FREE! Each week we select a theme and invite your young ones to be part of the conversation. Your membership includes 10% off hot/cold drinks while you accompany the young readers! This is aimed at children aged 7-12 but if they love books and want to discuss, the age range doesn’t matter! And no obligation to come back next time, you can pick and choose when you want to attend!

Tickets are per child attending! This Book Club will be held on Sunday 16th August 2026, at Books & Bevs, 89 Front Street, YO24 3FE, 1pm-2.15pm

After taking part at the Indie Children’s Author Network first ever LitFest at the end of July we had the amazing opportunity to speak with the authors in attendance and take copies of their wonderful books to display at Books & Bevs! 📖

There’s some amazing books covering a whole range of topics be it sharing, grief, superhero dogs, bears, sky pirates, wizards, explorer cats, crooks and saving humanity itself! 📚

Independent authors are so so important to indie bookshops, their talent and effort has to be shouted about! 📢

Part set in Hull and written by East Yorkshire native Louise! Wonderful is an incredibly beautiful novel celebrating Marilyn Monroe for her centenary year!

You will struggle to find someone that celebrates and honourably pictures Marilyn’s possible life than Louise!

Winter of Shadows by Clare Grant

Winter of Shadows is a gripping murder mystery set in the historic city of York, 1862.

The level of research and detail Clare goes into in this book is simply astounding. And even better - there’s more to come! 👀

Penance by Eliza Clark

Set in a fictional Yorkshire coastal town between Scarborough and Whitby, an unreliable narrator in a disgraced journalist and the murder of a teenage girl by her “friends”

Devoured this book in a day. Wow.

The York Muders series by

This series of York based murder mysteries is a top seller, as you can see, and they have plenty reason to be! The level of detail in these books of York’s snickleways and street adds to the underlying murder mysteries!

With a restock on the way and a fourth in the series joining them, these are a must read!

The author events are flying in and coming up next we have ! 🎉

On Thursday 6th August Jerry will be joining us at B&B for an evening discussing and signing his book Featherfall! Joint winner of the York St John University Big Summer Read 2026! 🪽

Featherfall mixes fantasy, reality and folklore. There’s an angel living in suburban York. He’s turned his back on his old life to become a husband and a father. But darkness threatens and his old boss wants him back in the fold!

Lil J loves reading and recently he’s been delving into some more life appropriate books!

Baby B&B will be arriving this September and we can’t wait to add another book lover/future bookseller to the gang! ❤️

As we get closer to the arrival of our new best friend we will be looking to take on a bookseller bev-maker at B&B with part time hours through August and more towards the end of September onwards.
