🎉 Acomb Fest is round the corner! 🎉

We can’t wait for Acomb to be buzzing with art, music, food and alllll the good vibes across Acomb Fest weekend! Friday 3rd - Sunday 5th July is going to be awesome and we’re looking forward to welcoming you all into the bookshop for a chance to chill during an action packed weekend! 🎨🎶🍟

Storyteller Lara McClure will be spending AcombFest hiding out at Books and Bevs! Join her at 1pm and 3pm on Saturday 4th July for interactive, family-friendly stories of local wildlife - foxes, frogs, tansy beetles and the odd human too - very odd indeed, some of them... 🦊🐸🪲

Cue the violin 🎻

We’re taking a break! What?! Days off?! Shop closed?! Yep!

Next Monday we’re shooting off to France for a week, a long overdue relax is needed and that’s exactly what we’re having! As a result we will be closed Tues 23rd June - Thurs 25th June and Sun 28th June, opening back up to regular hours on Tuesday 30th June!😢

Fear not however! Friday 26th and Saturday 27th we’ll be open with Greg taking the reins. Go easy on him, he’s nervous!😂

If you’re looking to order a book into store and collect this week, last call for this will be 4pm this Thursday 18th! 📦

Appreciate you all sifting through this essay while I pack my holiday get-up! 🏖️

INDEPENDENT BOOKSHOP WEEK 📖🐧

Starting this Saturday 13th June it’s Independent Bookshop Week and we have some stunning Shop Indie tote bags from Penguin in store. Want to get your hands on one? When you buy 3 Penguin paperbacks from Books & Bevs. This does not apply to the purchase of 3 penguins even though I tried my best to say that in the reel 🤷🏻‍♂️

Fair warning: we have 12 in stock on a first come first serve basis so don’t miss out on one of these beauties!🛍️

Now then you lovely lot!

Quick update to our opening hours, just the one day that’s changing. We’ve noticed a trend on Saturdays that after 4.30pm we tend to dip off with people heading back home or to the Tap/The Hand/Sojo for early evening refreshments and food! 🍺🍷🥤🍽️

So on Saturdays we’ll be closing at 4.30pm so we can partake in the above and also so I can spend extra time with A & Lil J. For any upcoming special occasions or events we will update accordingly!

Hope everyone has an excellent weekend and that there sunshine makes a reappearance! 🌞

A lovely visit from this morning to set up their student project of Blind Date With A Book run by their Business and Enterprise groups!

Blueberry Academy provides special support for young adults with learning differences, the main aims are to promote employability and independence, they offer services in York, Northallerton and Scarborough.
They provide for students aged 16-25 with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) they also fund employment services for adults funded through Social Care.

We are so so happy to host the space for the incredible work the students have done and the merchandising they’ve provided is top quality!

So if you’re after a blind date with a book pop into Books & Bevs and support this incredible organisation! 📖 🫐
