βοΈπ A little cake notice while we're enjoying this mini heatwave...
As much as I love the sunshine, I can confirm that buttercream absolutely does not. π
With temperatures set to stay pretty warm this week, I thought I'd share a few tips to help keep your cakes looking their best.
π Buttercream cakes should be kept in the fridge until around 1-2 hours before serving.
π Fondant-covered cakes are best kept in a cool room, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Unlike buttercream cakes, they generally don't need refrigerating.
π Collecting a cake?
βοΈ If possible, get the air con on before you set off.
π¦ Keep the cake on a flat surface such as the boot or passenger footwell. Please don't put cakes on seats - they have a habit of sliding about when you least expect it!
βοΈ Make sure the cake isn't sitting in direct sunlight during the journey.
π₯ And as tempting as it might be to pop into the shops on the way home, please don't leave your cake in a hot car, even for a few minutes.
A cake that's been carefully transported and kept cool should be absolutely fine, but buttercream and 28Β°C+ temperatures are not a match made in heaven! π
Enjoy the sunshine everyone (while it lasts!) π
