Calling all Rowbot Street fans!
There is an exhibition on this Thursday 11th May 1-4pm. At Gatty Park.

Come straight after school. This is a display of work for the heritage project. There may be cake 😉

Just a quick update. I was locked out of Facebook because of two factor authentication issues.

We are up to date with all the firings.

We will be bagging up your items ( sorry no bubble wrap) and they will be available for collection from tomorrow Wednesday after 4:30pm and every weekday (except Thursdays - extra curricular day for my kids). Collection from my home address (to be provided)

Weekends are busy but might be able to accommodate you.

If you want me to I can leave your pottery in a sealed plastic tub in my covered porch at your own risk, for you to collect at your convenience in the day.

Bags will be labelled with names as we wrote in the studio.

If you need us to deliver there will be a charge for diesel.

If you can tell us before you come by reply to our text that we send with the same information so we can have them ready.

Sorry for being quiet. We are trying to shift everything out of the shop.
We are on with glazing & firing your pottery and will text you as soon as it is ready for collection.

If you have some to complete, we can lend you a paint kit to take home, please message us on here and we can arrange it (text messages/calls are being wound down now)

So thats it guys...we've locked the doors to customers for the last time.

I just want to say a MASSIVE thank you to my family. Kelly my sister, who is now a master barista, her help in the studio was second to none & on call pretty much all the time. The 2 serving girls, who we could not have done without (now looking for a redundancy payout) the tuna toastie loving boy & resident therapy dog and not forgetting sous chef Lee my husband and helper/fixer/shoulder to cry on-er.

It been an absolute pleasure serving you for the last 2.5 years Accrington.

Thank you to every person who's graced our doors, taken a leaflet, shared our posts, cheered us on. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

My passion for pottery & crafts will still continue on. I'll be popping up for workshops/collaborations/parties/casting/prints. Keep following us to see what we will be up to next.

So until then...Stay Sharp...🌵

This is the saddest thing I've ever had to write.

Unfortunately we have reached a point where the cost of living is leaving us scraping together to pay off our monthly bills. Some months are so anxiety inducing that I've had to personally rescue the business more times than I'd care to talk about.

One of the saddest parts is that we've created a community which is just finding it's feet. The place & building is awesome but right now I have to look after me & mine because when you aren't getting paid, things at home are going up as well, something has to give.

The council with great intention is putting on 'free activities/crafts' we cannot compete with that. I have to put food on the table for my family and 'free' doesn't boost the local economy. It makes people penny pinch further. They aren't coming to independent businesses to spend, what they didnt have to spend earlier. Just look at the banks raising interest rates again.

So after half term week, we will be closing. You might see me packing up, so give us a wave!

If you've got a voucher/unfinished/uncollected pottery please come and redeem/finish/collect them or contact me.

I've been given the opportunity to work in a high school within the Food Tech department. It fits with my passion for food & creativity as well as great work life balance.

BUT...This is not the end for The Cactus.

Cacti need little water to survive, they don't need permanent roots to thrive, just a little nurturing with time.
You might see them pop up again, a green shoot will appear, and you will think...
oh The Cactus is here.

Anyone want to give running a cafe a bash?

You MIGHT be able to negotiate better utility rates than I can because I'm fixed in with everything.
You might be able to do longer hours & days than me.
I can do you a great deal on all the cafe equipment we have in, as a quick start up. I'll even mentor you on running it for a bit.

I know this will be quite the shock for some of you but I really have explored all the options available before making this heartbreaking decision

We've been asked asked quite a lot about February Half Term, so after a bit of thinking we want to ease ourselves into the year...

We are open Tuesday - Friday for half term pottery painting. We might get the girls to do some valentines crafts on the Tuesday (card making etc) Who doesn't love a valentines day card from their child?

As ALWAYS we will be serving our delicious menus throughout the day.

PLEASE BOOK, if you need to cancel we can always give away your table to a walk in. But chancing a walk in is risky.

20% off Christmas pottery too, it's never too early! They last a lifetime with good care & storage. It's your opportunity to get your hands on something you've had your 👁 l 👁's on.

Lovely (not so little) deluxe afternoon tea today for 4 wonderful customers.

At The Cactus Café we don't do dainty portions. I'm afraid I'm not sure how to!

It went down a treat, and doggy bags were taken home.

Customised to your tastes - select your soup flavour and specify your sandwich fillings too OR leave us to surprise you!

Soup today is Chicken & Vegetable.

The chicken has been poached in the stock alongside the vegetables & bouquet garni. Then chicken removed and the meat placed back in. Rice has been added for extra filling power. Finished with fresh parsley.

As always it's served with housemade herbed croutons and tiger bloomer (proper butter if you wish)
