Life is feeling a little full circle.
It's been a minute since I photographed a wine bottle. Working yesterday at .petit.doigt in Abingdon brought back some memories for me.
My family ran Wales' oldest wine bar, and some of my first ever jobs as a photographer were photographing bottles in the cramped confines of the cellar at .
Le Petit Doigt is a very small restaurant, and manoeuvring my lights and paraphernalia in the space definitely felt a little challenging at times (I may have broken a plate - sorry again, Ollie). Whilst I do love shooting in studios with all the freedom and possibilities that brings, I never want to stop shooting on location, being let into other people's worlds is an absolute privilege that this career allows. And seeing how people live and work in a space is such an inspiring thing. I plan quite a lot before a shoot, but abandoning everything because the texture of a certain corner feels "just right" is a powerful thing. And Ollie's restaurant has a lot of those corners.

I turned off the strobes for this shot as the light was bouncing of the Salvation Army building in a pretty magical way. The reflections from their white hoardings had been bothering me all afternoon, but for that brief moment, it was perfect.
