🎉 ** Fitness Trail Announcement** 📢📢📢📢
We are absolutely delighted to announce that we have been successful in securing a **£49,481 grant from SSE Renewables** to carry out major improvements to the popular ** Fitness Trail**.
A huge thank you to SSE Renewables for their continued support of this fantastic community asset.
The trail is enjoyed throughout the year by both locals and visitors, with the FeldyRoo Fitness Trail parkrunn every Saturday morning proving to be a tremendous success.
The grant will fund improvements in three key areas:
🚗 **1. Car Park Improvements**
Our car park regularly reaches full capacity on Saturday mornings and can become challenging during the winter months. It will be upgraded to provide safer, easier access for everyone. These improvements will also be a huge benefit for events in the area, in particular the Aberfeldy Show and Highland Games.
🌉 **2. Bridge Replacements**
Two of the bridges along the route have reached the end of their lifespan and will be replaced, making them safer and more enjoyable for both walkers and runners.
🏃 **3. Route Improvements**
The section of the trail near the finish line, which is prone to flooding during the winter, will be resurfaced with hardcore. This should significantly improve drainage and help reduce the number of parkrun cancellations during the wetter months.
🚜 **Work is due to begin on Monday, 27th July**, and we'll keep everyone updated as the project progresses.
# # # 🌿 Community Help Needed This Friday!
Before work gets underway, the Upper Tay Paths Group is looking for a few volunteers to help remove Himalayan balsam from the trail.
Sheila Wilson says:
> *"I am organising a work party on Friday 24th July to remove Himalayan balsam from the FeldyRoo Fitness Trail parkrun route. Himalayan balsam is an invasive non-native plant that crowds out native wildflowers, reduces biodiversity and leaves riverbanks vulnerable to erosion over winter. It's easy to remove by hand but takes a community effort because there's so much of it!"*
If you have a couple of spare hours between **9:00am and 11:00am this Friday**, we'd love to see you there. Please meet at the **FeldyRoo Fitness Trail Car Park** and help us prepare the trail ahead of these exciting improvements.
Every pair of hands makes a difference! 💚
Thank you once again to Aberfeldy Golf Club **SSE Renewables**, the **Upper Tay Paths Group**, our volunteers, and everyone who continues to support the FeldyRoo Fitness Trail.
**Exciting times ahead – we'll keep you updated next week with our progress!** 🏃♀️🌳🚶♂️
