Cupa-Ti Fine loose leaf teas for a fine cupa-ti. There is more to tea than tea-bags. Shop at https://cupa-ti.sumupstore.com/ Hey presto, blended tea!

Indulge yourself with some real loose leaf tea and find out what you've been missing. I have always enjoyed a nice cuppa tea (or cupa-ti for you Gaelic speakers!). It probably harks back to when I went shopping with my Grannie. Her local shop would have the tea stored in big, black tea caddies with gold lettering on the front. I can’t remember how many caddies there were, maybe only 2 or 3. Grannie would ask for a 1/4 pound of blended tea. The shop keeper would pour tea from one caddy into a paper bag and then add tea from the other caddy to the bag, then give the bag a good shake. Since them, I loved the smell and taste of tea. I still prowl supermarket and small shops looking for different types of tea and I’m always willing to give a new tea, tisane or infusion a taste. I prefer tea that has been brewed from single variety loose leaf tea. A tea leaf that has been grown in a single tea garden and not blended with other leaves. Single leaf teas produce so many different flavours, all of which it has taken from its growing conditions. The soil, the weather, the location and even when it was plucked all influence the taste of the tea. Very rarely do you find 2 single leaf variety teas that taste the same, even from the same garden, they can be totally different. Try breaking away from the mass produced tea bag market, a single tea bag could contain as many as 20 different tea varieties, and treat yourself to a nice earthy Assam black tea or a floral white tea from Nepal, or perhaps some soothing green teas from Fujian in China. Every tea I sell are teas that I enjoy and drink on a regular basis. I do not believe is offering teas that I don’t enjoy or that are “the in thing as the moment”. Thanks for reading and I hope to see you at a market somewhere. Online store at

Another good day at the Stonehaven Farmer's Market.

The Sun popping out made a big difference.

Just one little gripe, we all see 100's of dogs visiting the markets with their owners and they are usually all very well behaved, the dogs and their owners!

But...., you knew there was going to be a but, can owners ensure that their dogs don't use our gazebo legs or gazebo weights as a convenient 'pit stop', unfortunately, not for the first time.

I've just updated my list of teas that I have tasted/tested so far this year, 53 of them!

I get sent tasters from suppliers when I place stock orders and I also buy some that I find on other websites that I like the sound of. A few of the teas have already made there way onto the stall and, no doubt, others will.

Some of the teas I get from my suppliers are what I would class as 'fad teas'. Quite a few are herbal/fruit teas, which are all well and good, but I prefer a proper cupa with some flavour and oomph!

My tasting box has 23 teas in it at the moment.

7 are destined for the recycling bin because they aren't very good or not worth the money.

11 have been tried and tested but are unlikely to make the stall. They aren't anything too special or they are just too expensive to sell a humble wee markets! I'll just drink these.

4 haven't been touched yet. 2 are a 'fad teas' and are unlikely to make the stall, but, I will taste them, I could get a surprise. The other 2 are contenders for the stall, a Japanese Green and a new Decaf black breakfast tea, but they have to impress me first.

I like a mid week market, especially a market that means I don't need to get out of bed at silly o'clock in the morning!...

2 new teas coming to the stall soon.

I've been looking for these for a while. I've tasted a few but none of those were worthy of the Tea Mannies Teaspoon of Approval!

These did!

Sorry folks, I won't be at the Fraserburgh Producers Market today.

I have a lot to do after Apple Saturday at Pitmedden Garden NTS yesterday and the Mert Office says it's likely to be a bit blowy in the Broch today.

I plan to stay at home and pack a lot of tea today to get ready for the October markets.
