🐣 A very special first here at Hatch a Batch!

Our two adult Seramas have successfully hatched their very first batch of 6 chicks — and what makes this even more exciting is that both parents were hatched here at Hatch a Batch themselves, from quality show stock and from unrelated bloodlines.

These six little chicks are the first batch that will form part of our larger Serama breeding programme for next spring. We’re carefully growing our flock with the aim of developing quality birds from our own breeding lines.

Our plan is to have quality Serama pairs and trios available from spring 2027, once the young birds have grown on and we can select the best birds for breeding.

From the original eggs, to the parents, and now their first chicks — it’s exciting to see our Serama project really starting to take shape!

Spring 2027 is going to be an exciting one at Hatch a Batch. 🐥

🐓 Swedish Flower Hen Cockerels Looking for New Homes 🐓

We have 4 lovely Swedish Flower Hen cockerels looking for new homes.

They’ve been raised here at Hatch a Batch as part of our family-run hatchery and are growing into some really handsome boys.

We’re looking for good, caring homes where they can be well looked after. They would make a great addition to a breeding flock or for anyone looking to add some beautiful Swedish Flower genetics to their birds.

🐔 New to Hatch a Batch — Silkie Show Girls!

We’ve added two Silkie Show Girl cockerels to the Hatch a Batch family, and we’re really excited about this new breeding project.

Also known as Naked Neck Silkies, Show Girls have all the gorgeous fluffy Silkie features we love, with their very distinctive naked necks — definitely a breed that catches your eye!

Our new boys will be quarantined first, before being introduced to their new hens later in September. Once they’re settled and breeding, we’re hoping to have Show Girl chicks available from Hatch a Batch.

We’ll keep you updated as this new little project gets underway!

🐣 Another Hatch at Hatch a Batch

There’s nothing quite like opening the incubator and seeing a new batch of chicks starting their journey.

Our latest little ones have arrived and they’re already showing off some fantastic colours and markings.

Every hatch is a little bit different, and that’s one of the things we love most about breeding and raising our birds as a family — you never quite know what you’re going to get!

From the first tiny peep to watching them grow into healthy young birds, it’s all part of what makes Hatch a Batch so special.

What do you think of this latest bunch? And can you guess some of the breeds from their chick markings?

Our new Runner Duck breeding flock is coming along nicely!

These little characters are growing fast and it’s been brilliant watching them develop. They’ve got so much personality already and are certainly keeping us entertained!

We’re really looking forward to seeing how this flock develops and, hopefully, having plenty of little Runner Ducklings joining the Hatch a Batch family in the future.

Another exciting project for our little family-run hatchery.

There’s a lot more to Hatch a Batch than eggs going into an incubator and chicks coming out.

Every morning starts with checking everyone is happy, fresh food and water, cleaning, checking the incubators and, of course, plenty of chick cuddles along the way.

Being a family-run hatchery means the girls are involved too. They’ve each got their favourites and there’s always an argument over which chicks are the cutest!

We’ve spent years keeping chickens and we still get just as excited when a new batch starts hatching.

From tiny chicks to our breeding flocks, everything here is raised with care, patience and plenty of attention.

Our gorgeous Silkie chicks are growing fast!

Silkies hold a special place here at Hatch a Batch — they were the very first chickens we kept, and we’ve loved them ever since.

These little bundles of fluff are full of character and are looking for lovely homes where they’ll be well cared for and become part of the family.
